Our Stay

Putting a few photos of the unit which we stayed in. Daddy and I liked the location and after figuring out the carpark/security door system, we were quite happy with the whole place:

There was another (maybe too small) room which you two shared and had it's own bathroom too. So this unit was good where there were more than enough bathrooms. 

Day 5: Time to balik kampung

Woke up earlier as we planned to head to the bakery to pick up some breads to bring back home. Ah Ma was supposed to join us, but she'd forgotten about this plan. So Mei-mei was the only one to come with us. And you strike lottery.. you got a matcha drink. Bought the breads and headed home for breakfast and to pack up.

Clear out and left the keys in the letterbox as instructed and off we went. Next destination is lunch at Ara Vietnamese. Oops.. forgot to take photo of the noodles.. only of our drinks:

As usual, Mei-mei could not finish the drink and I drank it all up (big mistake!)... which made me wanna pee so badly when we got into the highway!! Nearly peed in my pants while waiting to go to the rest stop.  

We finally arrived home after a good drive back, with not much heavy traffic. And so that's the end of our short year-end holiday. 

Day 4: Surprise! And Shopping

Daddy came back last night and said that he wanted to surprise Ah Kong and arrange a meeting with Uncle Phang, who was his housemate when he studied in NZ (His son, Uncle Wai Yin was daddy's housemate when they studied in Monash University.. they didn't know their dad's history at that time).

So we told them lunch in Grand Imperial (yes, again). Ah Ma thought that we were meeting with Chek Kong, but we just said "no". They were surprised when we arrived to see Wai Yin and family there. Later when Uncle Phang and Aunty May arrived, it took them a while to recognize Ah Kong and Ah Ma.

After that was a long long lunch of catching up for the old folks. 

We finally said our goodbyes and then headed to Mitsui. Did a little shopping then headed home. It was a little too early for dinner, so we rested a little before heading out (in one car this time) to the restaurant nearby. Daddy, Ko-ko and I had eaten here when we visited in May. The food was delicious and very big portion. The person taking our order also did not push us to order too much, so there was no wastage.

Went home to rest and start to pack up for our return trip the next day. We also sat around the TV to watch a movie (well.. part of it anyway). Then 2 monkeys sat here to watch the lighning show. Can you guess which 2 from the bums peeking out of the curtains?

Then it was time to call it a night.

Day 3: The Gardens and Midvalley Megamall

Today was more shopping. This time is The Gardens. Ko-ko apparently likes it here too. If I recall correctly, Ashley Kor-kor and Uncle Dennis brought you here last year for CNY shopping. We split up just like yesterday. But later on, Ko-ko followed me while Mei-mei stayed with daddy and Ah Kong for drinks. So Ko-ko managed to buy some things for himself. 

After we were done at The Gardens, we headed over to MidValley. Did a quick round in Zara and Aape while daddy and Mei-mei went to buy more Pokemon cards. Then we decided to scrap the plans to head to Ara Vietnamese as it was getting late and the shop would be closing soon. So we did a search and found this nasi lemak place , Nale. Ko-ko says that they had a branch where in stayed in Waterfront and was quite tasty. 

The good thing was we had found a spot for Ah Kong and Ah Ma to sit while we did a quick round to the shops in MidValley. The 4 of us regrouped and tried to find the restaurant. It was not easy. We finally realised that the shop was on the outside. Found it, so we sat down to order while daddy went to get the oldies. It was a good meal:

We were then tired, so headed home. Dropped the oldies and decided to head to Monster and Beer for.. beer. Mei-mei and I also decided to walk along the shops where Ko-ko said had quite good bakeries. We also stopped by another thrift shop (sshhh.. don't tell the boys) before buying the yummy bakes.

Before heading home, we dropped by Ara Vietnamese to pick up dinner for the 4 of us. Daddy had plans with his friends, while Ko-ko also left to meet with his friends for dinner.

Mei-mei and I went to the pool for a swim... the water so SOOOOO COLDDDD!!

Then daddy headed off to meet his friends while we headed home for a warm shower and dinner. 

We had so much fun that we decided to extend our stay by another night.

Day 2: Omakase

We all hopped into the CX again and headed to our early which is around 20 minutes drive from our condo. 

Yup, dinner tonight is Omakase at Jyu Raku. Tonight's dinner is partially sponsored by Ko-ko (there goes his first paycheck!). Boy, was it an amazing meal. The chef is amazing!

Daddy waited for us to finish up before telling us what the "brain" looking thing on the right was: fish sperm sac. Hhhmm..

Next came the super fresh sashimi. It included fresh abalone.. which was a bit of a strange dish.. crunchy!

We were all starting to feel very full. Then came this tempura.. so light and yummy. Mei-mei and Ah Ma had started to "share" their food by this time.. 

But we just loved this amazing plate of sushi!

And finally the soup.. luckily no noodles in this clam soup. Mei-mei had to have hers packed to be brought home. 

But everyone still managed to make space for dessert. Yummeh!!

If you're wondering what sake we had for this evening, it was this:

Yup, the same one we drank while in Japan, which was bought from the sake brewery that we had a tour of "Gekeikkan". Sake was amazing. While the initial plan was just to drink one bottle, we ended up buying another from the restaurant!

It was an amazing dinner. So thankful to Ashley Kor-kor who helped us book this dinner. Seems like no trip to KL is complete without making at least one visit to Jyu Raku!

Day 2: TRX

We woke up, eat breakfast and then finally got out of the house. We all squeezed into the CX today as it would be easier to go in 1 car. Destination: TRX.

The carpark was massive, but maybe it was because we arrived early (11-ish), we easily got a carpark and was quite close to the entrance too. 

Once we arrived, some of us needed to use the loo. So while waiting, you (had to) spend some of the money which I had TnG to you yesterday. But since I reminded you that you had just that money to spend for this trip, you opted to buy the cheaper pack of Pokemon cards:

Next, we decided to eat lunch first before the lunch crowd comes in, and it would be a wait just to eat a meal. And daddy picked dim sum again. This time it's a little different: Paradise Dynasty, which specialises more on xiao long pau. The food is good, different from Grand Imperial. 

After that we went our separate ways, Ah Ma by herself, while the boys went to walk around and Mei-mei with me. Daddy then messaged me to find this outdoor garden/park. So we headed there. Could not find the boys, so we gave up and quickly made our way back inside. It was just TOO HOT outside! We did that this photo first:

We sat on the staircase which was beautifully decorated to cool down and you also waited for one of the BlackPink girls to appear on the advertisement screen for you to take a quick photo. We were about to get up, when an older couple asked "Mei-mei help us take a photo". I guess asking youngsters to take photo would result in better photos then us older folks 😜

Daddy then called to ask if I had Adidas membership, which I did and he asked that we head to the shop. We knew where the shop was as we'd walked by the shop earlier. He ended up not buying the shoe as it didn't fit him. They went off and we stayed on as you wanted to try on the F1 merchandise.. here's one of you wearing the hoodie and taking a photo in it. 

In the end, we did buy something from Adidas.. which came fully approved by daddy.. a Liverpool jersey! Haha..

We did some more shopping for CNY clothes before meeting up with the boys at Seibu. Finished up here and went down to the meeting point to meet up with Ah Ma.

Headed back with the intention to rest, but we ended up being dropped off at the 2nd Street which was nearby to our condo while the boys headed home (they ended up going to Tropicana Avenue to pick up sake for tonight's dinner). We all reached home at the same time. 
Time for some rest before heading out for dinner.

Day 1: Heading to KL

The plan was to head out by 7.30am. We did not know the traffic condition heading to KL, and daddy said that he planned to heeding the speed limit. No speeding!

We finally left the house at 8am. Not too bad. Loaded the cars easily. Everyone could be whatever they needed since bootspace was not an issue!

Todays drivers are Ko-ko in the Mazda and daddy in the BMW. It was a smooth ride, and we made 1 stop at the rest area for the toilet. Then off we went. First stop was Bangsar Shopping Center since it was lunch time (11.30-ish) and the check in time for the AirBnb was 3pm.

After a leisurely lunch, we headed downstairs to walk around and pick up whatever groceries we may need for this holiday. 

Found a place to sit and have some coffee and ice-cream (for Mei-mei):

Then made our way to Lumi Tropicana which would be our home for the next 4 days. Check in was a little messed up. Firstly we did not know how to head to Block B2 from the carpark, and the keys were not in the letter box as instructed by the host. Turned out that the condo was still being cleaned. We had to wait for nearly 45 minutes before the keys were handed to us and we got into the unit. 

Daddy and I had also went out to pick some beer from our favourite place "Monster and Beer Bar" and then also a few doors down to "Psychotic Operator" to pick up a bottle of wine for dinner:

Dinner was in Green View Restaurant. We had invited Uncle Sin Chuan and family to join us since they were also in KL. Turned out that Ian was not with them. So there were 9 of us having the Sang Har Mein. It was delicious. 

After dinner, we headed back home and rested then crashed for the night.

2025 Christmas

Daddy and I woke up and headed out to go last minute Christmas shopping today. Then since it was close to the time to pick up the dinner order, we spent more time around Gurney Paragon until 4pm and slowly made our way to the restaurant. 

Luckily it was ready and we headed home. Showered and then sat around with the family, enjoying Christmas songs and chatting (with our pre-dinner drinks).

We decided to start our leisurely paced dinner earlier today. Set up all the food (heated what needed to be heated up) and took our family photo:

Dinner was easy and quite nice. 

We finished off with the chocolate pralines from Läderach:

Of course, then the little one wants to open presents, insisting that we'd usually allow for the presents to be opened on the eve. Ko-ko of course said: No, should wait till Christmas morning. He said this knowing that his present hadn't arrived yet (his climbing shoes, which he had ordered). 

Anyhow, we finally allowed the presents to be opened on the eve.

We were very surprised and proud to find that Mei-mei didn't indicate any jealousy that her Ko-ko got an Apple watch and she just got a toy. 

But we surprised her with another present.. that was on the way: an Apple watch too. So happy to see your happy face. 

Tou-Tou's 96th Birthday

Today, we celebrate Tou' tou's 96th birthday. It's a little later in December that we would usually celebrate as we follow the lunar calendar date for her birthday (5th day of the 11th month). 

Uncle Sin Chuan planned and ordered the food for today. It's at the W World restaurant. We had to start late as Tou-tou was having a difficult time to get ready. 

Well, she finally arrived at nearly 1pm and we started the meal:

There were other dishes still.. but I did not take any photos of them.
It was finally time for the cake after we'd eaten everything (very full.. burp). 

Then we headed home. Such a long, long meal. But a lovely celebration.
