2022 World Book Day

This year you finally got to celebrate World Book Day again.
It's funny to see how you have all grown up and changed in preferences for the costumes.
Here's a picture sent again by one of the parents of you kiddies in Year 1. Preferred costume then was princess themed.
This year, you went for Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony and Friends. Not the pony, but the "girl" version from Rainbow High. I asked you if anyone would know your character, but you told me "As long as my best friend knows.. that's all that matters".

Posing for mummy
This is Rainbow Dash
The costume could not be found online. Furthermore, we only got a week's notice on the event. So most of the things were made at home, or we made do with whatever you had in the closet.
Colourful hairclip
My trusty glue gun worked very hard
Colourful hair to add to your ponytail
Rainbow Dash's pendant, made from melted glue and you later drew the lightning sign
Rainbow coloured wrist bands
You traced the logo on her shirt by placing the iPad under the shirt and coloured in with Sharpie
I ordered blue tights so that you'd have blue legs like Rainbow Dash, but seeing that it took too long to be shipped out (from China), I ordered clothes dye from a local vendor which thankfully arrived YESTERDAY and I had to dash around to colour your white stockings. The same for your colorful socks.
You certainly had fun today. Mr. Wil even came dressed up as a giraffe!

Earrings

We decided to clean your earrings last night and after cleaning the one on the left side, daddy realised that it could not lock when we closed it. Oh no! So we quickly put back the studs (which you are not really fond of),

Today, as my doctor's appointment took longer than necessary daddy ended up taking half a day off work. So we had lunch and headed to the shop to see if it could be fixed or if we could buy new ones. Luckily they managed to fix it. We thought to buy new ones but could not find any nice ones or big enough ones for you. We even went to a couple of other shops, but could not find anything suitable.

As we headed back to Pandora, we decided to drop by this shop which is just outside Pandora. And ta-da, we found a nice pair. So daddy decided to buy these as spares, to make sure you have a pair in case this one comes loose again.

But looks like you have your eyes on this pair, saying that you will wear it on Friday for the school Book Day event.

Need for a Shave

Well, your "whiskers" have been growing and although they are fine hairs, it is very visible. So after much thought (on your end) and persuasion (from daddy's end), you agreed to shave.

We bought the shaver on Friday when we stopped by Gurney Paragon for groceries and some toiletries.

Today is D-Day:

Daddy giving instructions on how to shave (and not cut yourself)
As I put the tag to this post.... I get a funny feeling. "First".. you are 16 and yet there are many more firsts for you to experience as you grow up.

Time for Slime

You have stopped playing and making slime for a while and lately you have decided to like it again. Realised that the Elmer's glue was expensive to buy from the usual shop, I managed to find a cheaper seller.

Today you came to me to show me your "Rose" slime. Very creative. You proudly told me that it was so easy to make. And right after you had this picture taken, you smashed it! Ahaha..

Second Dose

Daddy and I took the day off today since you were going to have your second dose, and it is Good Friday for the two of you (no school).
We headed to Sunshine Square earlier because we didn't want to get stuck for long hours like the first dose. Obviously we would be meeting the same crowd we met for the first dose.
As we were walking in, you told me that the family walking into the other lift were the kids we met the first time. And we all joined the queue at the same time and the child also told his mummy about us. You kids sure have good memories.
Once they opened the doors, we headed in to have the form checked out and then your IC scanned. Right after that was the queue to get your jab.

I told daddy not to hang around and wait for us, so he headed to the office. But it turned out that we'd be done within 30 minutes. And daddy was caught up in a discussion.
Since Sunshine Square was not yet open, we headed to McDonald's. You asked for a McFlurry, although it was the morning menu and you could have gotten your favourite hash brown instead.
As McDonald's started to get too packed for our comfort, we left and stood around wondering what to do next. Since the grocery section was open, we headed down just to while some time away. Grabbed some groceries and daddy arrived just as we finished paying for them.
We went home to rest a little and wait for Ko-ko to get ready. You asked me to take pictures of the plaster and little hole where you were poked (I don't see any little hole).

We had lunch plans and off we headed to Two Frenchies for lunch.
Lunch was complete with dessert even!

After that we hopped over to Jaya for some groceries before heading home.

Banana Cupcakes

Today Ah Kong was telling me that the bananas given by our neighbour was very delicious, but the Pisang Raja wasn't as good. So I asked if I could make cupcakes with the Pisang Raja and he told me to go ahead.

So when you got back from school, I told you that we'll be making banana cupcakes and you were very happy about that.

After I was done with work, we got to making the banana cupcakes. It's the recipe I used a long, long time ago. After turning on the oven to preheat, I got you to start weighing and measuring out the ingredients.

Next you got to cut up the bananas then mash them.

Cleaning up the masher. You told daddy later that you mashed the potatoes (instead of banana)
Filling up the paper liners
We also added some sugar mixture at the top to give it a crumbly texture. Tonight itself you ate 2 cupcakes, and asked to bring one to school the next day for breakfast.
I'm glad we had the time to make them. It was easy and fun.

So Proud of her Necktie

This is what I saw then you got back from school today. Today you had the first librarian's meeting and you were given a brown librarian's tie. You told me that you had to ask Mr. Wil to help you tie it as it's not the velcro type like your school tie.

I offered to sew on your name tag, but later when I noticed that the printing on the tie was faded you told me that this is temporary. I asked if you were on probation and you said "Yes, what does that mean?". Ahahaha...

I showed you how to remove the necktie without totally undoing it, just like how Ko-ko wears his tie on Mondays. But I think I should show you how to tie it up so that you can do it yourself next time.

Congratulations again, our little librarian. Hope that you will pass the probation period.

A Child's Perspective

We had this "visitor" in our bathroom since yesterday evening. It gave me quite a shock, flying around as I was showering. Had to quickly close the bathroom door to ensure that it does not go into the room.

When mei-mei saw it, to my surprise she wasn't too afraid. Instead she kept commenting that it's so unique: shaped like a heart.

It did strike me to be of a different shape from the normal moths, but I love your perspective of it looking like a heart shape.

Good News Friday

We received two good news:

1. Evelyn got accepted into the position of librarian which you had applied for;

2. Evan accepted the position Head of the Monitor's Board.

Congratulations to the two of you. Great job and we're so proud of you.

*Oh and it's not an April Fool's joke!
