CCA-Coin Box

A new ruling was for the CCA to be held remotely. So school ends early on Wednesday and Thursday for the both of you. Then CCA begins at 3.30 till 4.30pm on these days.
One of the task you were to make for CCA is a "coin box". So I found you this container which was used to pack CNY cookies and I had cut a hole for the coin for you in advance before heading out to run an errand.
When I got back, you said that you would like to make a "doggy coin box". So I taught you how cut the "fur" and stick them on the body and you decorated the face and legs too. I had to help you cut the toilet roll for legs and stick them on.
And this is your final result:
Posing with your "doggy"
It has a red ribbon-leash
Demonstrating on how to put the coin in. You could not remove the coin after that (laugh) because the ears covered the lid and container)

Japanese Night

Tonight we finally had Japanese night. It was been a long time since we had sushi/sashimi as we wanted to avoid raw food. This morning, Ko-ko woke up early to go with Ah Ma to Fettes Park market to buy the salmon from the seller there.
In the afternoon, I tried for the first time to cook sushi rice.
I also ordered some Kaarage from Hanabi which is located nearby in Udini Square. When I got back, Ah Kong nonchalantly informed me that daddy had cut himself while cutting the sushi. Gosh.. We got him all plastered up and Ah Ma had to take over with the cutting and deboning of the fish. While they were busy with that, Ah Kong and I headed out to E-Gate to buy plasters for daddy as it was quite a big gash on his finger.
Finally dinner was ready. While daddy could not manage the sashimi, he still managed to cook the salmon.
Before dinner began, Mei-make made her own sushi roll:
Making her roll
Our dinner spread
Evelyn's roll. She managed to finish quite a lot of it!
Enjoying her food
Of course, our dinner was complete with this Sake which we had brought all the way back from Hokkaido so many years ago.

Check Point is Over

To celebrate the last day of your Check Point exam, daddy and I planned to bring you out for a celebratory lunch. Daddy had gone into the office in the morning and could not make it back on time to pick you up from school. So Ah Kong and I picked you up before heading home. You had time to shower before daddy finally made it back home.

The initial plan was to go to Via Pre. But we could not get a parking spot and so when making one round in search for a parking lot, you spotted "Two Frenchies". So in the end we decided to try out the restaurant.

The restaurant was quite crowded and we were seated upstairs. Luckily the food was served very quickly. We were all hungry by then as it was past 1pm.

These were our mains, on top of our soup (which we were too hungry to remember having a picture of it taken):

Looks like we've found a new place to dine in future.

First Day of CheckPoint

Today is the first day of your Year 9 Checkpoint exam. You had 2 English papers, and the essay format was not something you had learnt. I know you have tried your best. It should be fine.

Hope it goes well for the other 2 subjects.

Door Signs

Whenever we buy some of those activity books, they would come with a cut out door sign. As it is made of paper it will either fly off whenever we close the door or tear within a few days.

In the end, I requested Grampy to make one for you to decorate for your room. In the end, he made 3 of them: 1 out of metal, 1 out of wood and one out of plastic. All using recycled materials. I thought that it would be a good thing to keep you occupied.

The trip we finally made back to BM after CMCO, I'd forgotten to bring it back to home. The same happened the next trip we made back after MCO 2.0. Finally, Nanna remembered to put them into my bag and it was just in time for your Easter break!

And so you spent some time decorating them and putting wording (including hashtags!) on them. Now they are proudly displayed (you rotate them) on your door.. .even though you are not sleeping in your room yet!

This was the first pictures I had sent to Nanna and Grampy to show them what you had decorated, as I could not find the other 2.

Last night, I asked you to send them pictures of the other 2 and you bombed their WhatApp with the pictures of the signs, including close up shots of your artwork *laugh*

It's a good way for you to express your creativity. Good job, little one.

Roast Beef Dinner

Daddy said that he would like to cook on Saturday. The options was either Japanese (sashimi as Evan has been craving) or roast beef. In the end, roast beef won as there was a nice cut selling in Jaya Grocers when we went on Friday and also that meant daddy could sleep in a little on Saturday.

Well, either way I'm happy. Dinner was delicious!

Random Photos with Girlfriend

After I took the photo's of daddy and his "past life's girlfriend", more photos taken through the years appeared in my Google photos as a group. Such a coincidence.

Girlfriend in the Past Life

Manja girl with her daddy. I was on my phone when daddy told me "Look at her so manja".

Daddy told me, I have been demoted. And that Mei-mei has taken over as his darling since she was born.

Within 2 minutes of me taking this picture, I heard her giggle and say to daddy "I farted on you". Ahahaha....

Design and Technology - Electronics

For your CA2 DT assignment, the time given to complete it was over the Easter Break. You gave me the list of what you needed to prepare the circuit. But as usual, you did not give me all the information, including the all important information from your teacher as to where we could get the items.

My friend's father fortunately had the stuff needed, so we picked it up from him. But it turned out that there was more things needed than what was listed. Since you finally disclosed that the teacher had told you where we could get the items, Ah Kong had to send us to Hondai to pick up the stuff since daddy was busy and he was working in the office.

And again we had to go another time the next day as the LEDs (which included spares) blew! Then the2-gang AA batteries did not work, and so I picked up more LED and a 4-gang battery holder. I also picked up a bread board as daddy had asked me to. Unfortunately, the teacher did not allow the use of this board.

That still didn't work as now you had too much voltage. On Monday, daddy and I had to go get more stuff including hunting for a 2-gang battery hold for C batteries. At last, the circuit worked.

On the day the assignment was due, you headed to school with the board along with your drawing plan which was not yet drawn up! Talk about procrastinating!

You came back and told us that you had full marks for this assignment. It seems that the intention of the assignment was to have the switch with 2 LEDs be wired in parallel, but your engineer daddy also gave another solution which thankfully was accepted by your teacher. It's a good learning and I'm happy with the teacher for being flexible in accepting alternatives.

Good job, daddy.. I mean Evan *grin*

Umbrella... and Clogs

Found this photo and had to laugh. It was drizzling and you wanted to look at Nanna's plants. So we found a purple umbrella (joy! Your favorite color) and out you went... wearing the clogs. Yup, you seemed so happy to pose with the umbrella and loved wearing the clogs.

Every once in a while you'd want to go to the back again and would get upset if Grampy wore the clogs. Actually, it's also my favorite to wear when going to the wet kitchen. There used to be 2 pairs, I guess now with only Grampy wearing it, Nanna did not buy extras to keep.

So I asked Nanna to buy you a smaller pair if she sees it. She reckons the clogs cost more than the slippers which she keeps at the back.

Sleeping Early

I have been trying to get you to sleep early on school nights this week as daddy says it's not easy to wake you up this week. But all my efforts were in vain.

Monday - Spoke to me non stop despite being warned that it is pass your bedtime

Tuesday - Needed to have your ears cleaned as you could not hear well. And yes, there was A LOT of ear wax!

Wednesday - Just as we walked into your room, you told me you have homework to do! And you needed to hand it is the next day. It was your comic strip from CCA. *Ggrrr... you had the whole evening to complete it!

Thursday - You said your ears were still a little blocked. But this time, we started to wind down earlier, so you finally got into bed by 9.30pm, but as usual by the time you were finished telling me everything there is to say, it was 9.40pm.. or maybe later.

Thank goodness today is Friday, and so I can just let you be and I can go to bed earlier. This week of waking up early is taking it's toll on me!

Easter Egg

Mei-mei brought this back from school today. She asked me if I would like to eat it. She told me it was safe to be eaten even though it had been dropped on the floor.
Later just before dinner Ko-ko asked me again "Are you sure you want to eat it? She dropped it on the floor." I said, "Yes I will eat it". And he said, "The GARAGE floor not the floor at home!!"
And yes I did eat the egg in the end. Evelyn wanted to share it with me and I ate it.
