Planting Journey Part 2

The seeds did not really germinate yesterday. Maybe because you decided to sleep in the room where the seeds were kept so it was too cold. So we waited another day and voila! The roots were growing in most of the larger seeds and on the little seeds too. So it is time to grow the seedlings.
Oh by the way we had germinated: bayam (tiny seeds), ladies fingers (from our own plant), french beans (large red seeds which lost color when being germinated) and one sunflower seed.
1. We used an egg carton to grow the seedlings. First you put in the soil.
2. Then you dig a hole to put in the seed. Try to put the roots facing downwards.
3. You labelled the tray so that you'd know which seedlings were in which tray for transplanting. Spray more water on the soil.
Now we wait a while for the seedlings to grow and to transplant them to larger pots.
Oh and quite a few of the bayam seeds did not germinate and we didn't want too many plants either, so we decided to keep 5 more slots for the baby bitter gourd which we germinated.

Planting Journey Part 1

Have decided to start our little vegetable garden. Well, we have a ladies fingers plant which was growing well. It was the one and only one which would germinate of the many seeds we tried to grow.
Today we are doing a proper way to germinate after I learnt it (or part of it as the video I watched was in Mandarin). Step 1 is to germinate the seed:
1. Spray container covered in tissue with water
2. Put the see in the tissue or wrap up in tissue for larger seeds (larger seeds need to be soaked in warm water before being wrapped up: I missed out on this step.. oops!)
3. Spray more water on the tissue paper. Keep the covered container in a dark area. The seeds will germinate by the next day

Where is the white wall?

The initial thought was that you'd both just need to wear the tops with your necktie. But it looked weird. So you had to wear the full uniform.
We had to move daddy's car as the whitest wall in the house was in our garage. Took quite a few attempts to get a nice/decent picture of my two monkeys!!

Ah.. cincai la.. the job is done.

Mango Mousse Cake and Hari Raya

Today's dessert menu is Mango Mousse Cake. This involved all 3 of us:
Mei-mei preparing the base: Smashed digestive biscuits with melted butter
Ko-ko preparing the jelly mango to be added to the whipped cream
Ta-da.. assembled base with mousse portion
Oops... looks like I missed out to take a picture with the top jelly portion.
And since it was Hari Raya, the cake was "for" Kakak.
Evelyn added a green decoration as Hari Raya colours were green and yellow.

Gyoza Night

Tonight we had gyoza for dinner. Of course that wasn't all we had. There was also Miso soup, Cawan Mushi and of course Japanese Shochu. Can you imagine? It has been a year since we last had gyoza at home!
Took me quite a long time to wrap up almost 160 dumplings. Of course, on occasion either one of you would saunter over and help me. Mei-mei started off wrapping her own cheesy ones and later the meat ones, while Ko-ko came and helped wrap some of the meat ones. You both did quite well. Although Ko-ko insists that have 2 folds on each side is a lot easier than having the customary three. Mei-mei also tried to add folds to her meat version gyozas.
The veggies for the dumpling
Mixing them in
Mei-mei making her cheesy ones
Dumplings all ready to be frozen for another day
This time we got another frying pan and Ko-ko helped daddy to fry, which sped up the process by a lot. Mei-mei also helped by holding the pans with the uncooked gyoza for the chefs to put into the pan.
Ta-da.. this is our dinner:

Goofing Around

Some nights are just meant to be goofy! I was chatting with Ko-ko when Mei-mai joined us in Ko-ko's room. We were having a good laugh talking nonsense and soon it was time to sleep. Mei-mei wanted to take PJs for the next day, so she got some help.
Looks more like helping her CLIMB into the cabinet!
We were laughing more after that and Mei-mei needed to do a wee wee before she peed on Ko-ko's bed! While she was in the bathroom, he decided to wear her PJs. Look at his silly face:
Squeezing the elephant into the ant's PJs!
Yup, he squeezed into her top too!
My two silly, funny kids!

Lost Items

I guess this goes for the both of you.. no stationery are lost since you have both been home for homeschool during this MCO period.
For Stinky, the eraser that I had given her from day 1 of homeschool is still around. Although it is now in 2 parts.. hey they are both still around (I think.. or maybe only one half is around!!).
Hey... maybe there is a silver lining in all this MCO after all.. I don't get more grey hairs when either of you come to me asking for new stationery.

Happy 70th Birthday, Nanna

We had plans for Nanna's big 70th. Unfortunately, with the MCO all had to be cancelled. So I arranged for cake and dinner to be sent to them. Too bad we could not be there to celebrate with her, but our thoughts are with her on her birthday.
No Grampy in the picture as he is the photographer *grin*. Here are pictures of Nanna and Riley and the food.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANNA!!

Teacher's Day Video

Your homeroom teacher Miss Beatrice messaged me to ask if you would be willing to make a short video for Teacher's Day. Of course, you were willing to present in the video.
This is what we came up with:

You created the poem. Here is what I had helped you write on a white board for you to read from:

Happy Teacher's Day in advance to all the amazing teachers!

Dance Challenge

Daddy and I went to Queensbay today to pick up some vitamins and also necessities from Guardian. Since we were already there, daddy decided to head to the PS4 games shop to see if there are any games to buy.
He found out that we did not need the motion controller to buy Dance Party. So he bought the game and we installed the app on our phones which was used as the motion controller.
Here are the two of you challenging each other:

It was hilarious. And after looking at you play.. it seems it's a better option for us to invest in the controller... just in case the controller flies out of your hands (yes.. both of you!!). Also it would be easier to hold it as it is smaller than our phones.

Mother's Day 2020

This year, you put in a lot of effort for Mother's Day (as for Ko-ko....). We both wore green t-shirts, and even had identical "Anna" hairstyle:

Of course, I received a card from you which you had started on Friday as part of your English lesson. You had even kindly added Ko-ko's name to the card.

In fact, you had "hidden the card" for me to find but before I woke up, you discovered that the pom-poms had fallen off (they were stuck on double sided tape). So daddy told me to "continue sleeping" while he helped you in the green room stick them all back using UHU.
The night was finished off with a massage. I had been given the ticket along with instructions on how to redeem it (it even has a barcode) a few days before.
Thank you for a lovely Mother's Day.

Haircut Day at Mummy Barber

Today the Prime Minister announced that the CMCO will be extended another 4 weeks. So it's time to whip out the clippers I had bought a couple of weeks ago.
Before I started, I even looked at some You Tube videos to get some tips. It's a bit scary as it would be my first time cutting hair, other than trimming the fringe for both you (a long time ago) and Mei-mei (quite recently).
Before we started, daddy and I covered our bathroom floor with newspapers so that we would just need to pick them up with the hair and throw them all away. Then as we did not have a cape, we cut holes in a large garbage bag for the head and arms. Ta-da.. we're all ready to start.
It took longer for daddy as we were not sure on how short the cut could be based on the numbers on the clippers. So we had to do it several times before getting the right length (to cut off his curls!!).
Then I walked to your room to ask if you wanted to have a cut too. You told me that you'd have a look at daddy's cut before letting me know (soi chai!!). Well either it looked OK, or you were desperate for a cut (you have been complaining for a while) so we gave you a cut too. Only yours seems faster probably because your hair is stiff and straight. But I also had to trim the tops using a scissors.
Not too bad for a first time. But looks like I missed a few spots. Will need to trim again.. probably next weekend.

A Slimey Sunday

You had been asking me to buy the Elmer's glue to make slime for a long time. So finally, I did a search and found that Spotlight sold them. So I had them delivered to us and today, we found the time to make them:
The 2 coloured glitter glue, magical liquid (activator) and a container
You needed a spoon to stir the sticky glue. Also put newspaper on the floor. (To be safe!!)
Ta-da.. the slime is of just the right consistency

Weekend of Good Food

It's the Mother's Day weekend. So we had brunch and yummy BBQ dinner planned for the day.
We started with pancakes. As usual, Ko-ko woke up to help me fry the pancakes. Which is a good this so that we would have food ready faster. Or else, I would have to slave for a long time in the kitchen.
Ko-ko's Turtle Pancake
My banana, blueberry, maple syrup pancake
Did not have a chance to take a picture of Mei-mei's train
And then for dinner, Chef Daddy got busy with our BBQ.  The both of you helped out quite a bit.
Kids helping to prepare the charcoal
Ko-ko helping with the first dish to cook - chicken
Did not have time to take pictures of the two of you cooking.
"Ariel view" of our dinner
Daddy's plate
We also made fruit jelly which was served as dessert for the night.

MCO: 3rd Jigsaw Puzzle

After completing the first jigsaw puzzle, I had ordered another 2 online. This is the second of the 2 new ones I had bought. Tonight, we finally finished fixing it up.

 Ta-da... it's all done!
