Flying Fairy Attends Classes

For today's History lesson, Miss Janice had asked that you all come dressed in either a pilot or someone who can fly. When I reminded you about it last night, you immediately said that you'd dress up as a fairy. So we went in search for your old fairy wings and picked the most colorful dress in the closet.
So here is the fairy:

Shadow in the Sun

For Science, you were learning where your shadow will be at different times of the days. There were 2 parts of the assignment. One was the human sundial and another was to measure the length of a pencil. While the human sundial as optional, we had fun doing it.
One was the very bad weather, we tried to do it over a few days as the evenings were rainy on the week that the assignment was given. Another was as we did not have chalk, we used masking tape to mark the location of the shadow. On the first day we did it, two of the tape were either blown away or stolen by the birds. Daddy gave us his golf tees to hold down the tape.
Finally we managed to get all reading except for 5pm as it was rainy before and when there was finally some sun, the shadow from the neighbor's house blocked the sun on the spot we were marking. In the end, you came up with a good solution to estimate where the shadow would be based on another parallel location.
Here are some of the photos of you and your shadow:

This was taken on the first day's attempt
This is the other experiment using a pencil and paper
I compiled the pictures into a movie and took a top view (from my room window) of the location of the tapes. Your teacher picked the movie to be shared in your class the following week during lessons:

Homemade Binoculars

This this week's Geography lesson, we had to prepare a whole list of items. Why? Because you were going to learn how to make a binoculars. It was part of your lesson on what are used to look at things.. far and to enlarge items.
Hard at work
Ta-da.. submitted to your teacher

Gamers at Home

Daddy had to buy a game online and have it downloaded as you have both finished playing the other games we have at home... and we have no idea how long more the MCO will be.
A good investment as you are both having fun playing the game together.

Weekend Bakes-Pineapple Tarts

I had planned to make the pineapple tarts on Sunday. But after making the roti canai, I was already all sweaty. So decided to finish of the planned baking on Saturday.
Here we are making our pineapple tarts.
Evelyn rolling the jam (store bought)
Putting the egg wash on the pastry
Ta-da.. our end result
It was a fun baking session. Not much work involved as the jam was ready made. Unfortunately, the jam doesn't taste very nice but good enough. Next time we will need to make our own jam. I will also need to buy the cutters too as the "antique" cutters which I had inherited from Nanna has cracked from age.

Roti Canai

Mei-mei had asked to have roti canai. We were not too keen to go out to buy them, so I found a recipe online and attempted to make them.
This recipe required the dough to be made the day before and refrigerated before making them to be eaten the next day.
So on Friday afternoon, I made the dough using my mixed and we both shaped them into 10 balls and kept them in the fridge.
On Saturday, you thought that it would be for breakfast, but it was actually planned for your lunch. I started shaping them with your help while Ko-ko (and later daddy) fried the roti canai.
Not too bad. It was a bit thick, so next time I will try to fold it like how the seller does it.

Evelyn's Song

Ah.. today we attempted to make a video of you singing one of the songs taught by your teacher at school for the choir. This is as requested by your teacher as they were planning to make a video of the children singing.
Here is Evelyn singing "

Evelyn's Toy House

You have decided to expand your toy houses into one big house. And this is what you have:
And the back of your Barbie's closet has become the washroom, complete with WC and bidet as well as sink and a place to put the toothbrush.

Pick-Up-Sticks and Card Games

I had placed an order for some stationeries and found that they had some card games and also when you were arranging the coloring pencils, it gave me an idea to also get the "Pick-Up-Sticks" to play with.
Our delivery came with the SNAP, OLD MAID and also HAPPY FAMILY cards. We had a set before but had left 2 of them in Ipoh with your cousins during Chinese New Year.
Here we are playing the game.

At the Carwash-- at home

Daddy was complaining that his car was really dirty. So yesterday evening, he decided to wash his car. And of course, the two assistants volunteered to help wash too. It was fun as I could hear Evelyn squealing from in the room.
It is certainly a change for the two of you from being cooped up in the house with nothing much to keep you entertained.

Evelyn's Online Artwork

Today's topic was flying fish. The teachers had prepared the work very much in advance and into the early morning today.
Lessons started with a lot of chatter from the kids (so many of you). You were all supposed to compose an artwork of flying fish using the drawing function on Class Dojo.
As it was advised to let you use the Class Dojo for students using a computer, I let you use my computer and you used the headset. So I could not hear the ongoing lesson.
I left daddy to help you move over to Class Dojo so that I could prepare lunch for the both of you before lessons ended.
Came back to find this submitted:

Treasure Hunt by Evelyn

Tonight is our (daddy and mummy's) turn to have a "Treasure Hunt" session. Evelyn had prepared and hidden the pieces of paper. Wow it certainly wasn't an easy task to find the 2 pieces of paper in our room. Why? Look at the pieces of (folded) papers she had hidden. We needed clues to finally get them.

Back to Home Schooling

The government has extended the MCO to the end of the month. And the school has come up with different ways to conduct classes for the primary children. While Ko-ko's classes remain the same: to be conducted via Microsoft Teams, the same format was introduced to the primary children too.
This morning was spent setting up Mei-mei's email account and password so that she could access MS Teams.
Then classes started at 10,00 am. First class for the day was Geography. We gave you the iPad so that you could attend classes sitting next to us (daddy didn't have any meetings during those times).
It-was-HAVOC!! Haha.. the poor teachers really needed to learn new skills: to conduct a class with so many children and virtually. And also to use the app.
The second class (BM) was a little smoother and this time the other teacher in the class, Miss Louise was stricter and telling children to not talk to each other and keep reminding them to mute themselves when the teacher was talking. There was some hiccups as the teacher tried to show her computer screen and another time when she tried to show a You Tube video.
I'd say it's a good start. You were happy that you could see some of your friend's faces over the video and to hear your teacher's voices too.
Hope it gets better as the days goes by.

Easter Egg Hunt

You always love a "Treasure Hunt". So with Easter coming up, you got ready and prepared for an Easter Egg Treasure Hunt.
Preparing the egg decorations as well as a "medal" for the winner:
Preparing a sign of the hunt. It was supposed to be printed (unfortunately I forgot to get it printed before the hunt.. sorry):
You both went upstairs while I hid the eggs:
Daddy was Mei-mei's assistant
Mei-mei won the hunt. So she got a medal and since there were only 2 "hunters", Ko-ko got the other medal. Tried taking pictures of the two of you.. look at what Ko-ko is doing.. teasing you!

Goofing Around

This Digital Break was very much welcomed and yet tough on everyone. We could not go out, but at least we got to have some time off from studying (and teaching).
Here are some of the things you both did:
Stacking the color pencils and playing tic-tac-toe. Must not knock over the colours
Cuddling to watch silly movies on Netflix. Yup, daddy could not tahan and so he subscribed to Netflix for us all to watch
Having an Easter egg hunt. Mei-mei is all ready to stick up the words "EASTER"
Making messages using color pencils. This is to Riley
Another message to anyone..
Playing with her virtual hedgehog which is created by Google to keep kids entertained (she took MANY pictures with the animals!!)
Movie night... even though the popcorn was finished even before the show started
Easter Egg hunt and being silly overall
You both spent a lot of time soaking up movie hours, but hey, what else is there to do? Mei-mei was really tired of wearing shorts at home, so she wore dresses most of the Digital Break week as can be seen in the pictures.

Digital Break

It's term break as planned for this week. The school calls it a "Digital Break" I guess because all lessons are virtual.
Ahh.. so for the first day of the Digital Break, you both slept in. Especially that Big Slug, Ko-ko who slept in until nearly 11am today!!

Masterchef Daddy

Daddy had bought prawns earlier when MCO started. We planned to cook Spaghetti Marinara for Evan's birthday. But in the end, it was kept for another day as daddy managed to get beef for steaks.
So today, daddy was the Masterchef and whipped up his specialty.
Ko-ko called this Mei-mei's sample sized dinner

Day 13: BM and Geography

Today is the final day of lessons before a week of break. Both teachers sent in the lessons late. So we spent the morning half completing LitPro and then a bit of tuition homework for BM.
Geography lessons came and so we started on the slides.
Evelyn answering questions from the slide
Reading the slide
And happiness is when the slides ended with this note "No homework for this week".
As we had nothing to do, Ko-ko tried to make Dalgona Coffee which is the current hype. We tried to do the same for Milo, but it would not thicken and sank to the bottom of the cup. But Mei-mei wsa happy with her drink still.
As the BM lessons only came after Mummy School ended, we decided to finish it up next week.

Day 12: English, ICT and Mandarin (Extra Classes)

For today's English lesson, Miss Beatrice had it in a different way. She recorded a video of herself speaking and conducted the classes with slides in the video.
Work was a quick page on the workbook on adverbs and the suffix "ly".
As it was still early, we completed the ICT work which was a game to teach you on storing and sorting information correctly. Then it was breaktime.
After lunch, we caught up on the extra chapter for Mandarin. Today's lessons was learning about words relating to snow.
We finished off with LitPro and were done for the day.

Day 11: Art and Mathematics

The morning session was spent learning Mathematics. Today's topic is still on mass but we've moved on to a smaller unit of measurement, gram.
After the learning session of checking last week's work, homework, online game on mass and also a short video by your teacher on how to measure curved lines using a string, it was break time.
We started a little earlier and this is your favourite subject. This week, we are to use materials (best to be recycled) to make a pencil holder. You were so excited and of course picked the "unicorn" theme.
We did some research on Google and found what you wanted to do.
You just needed a little guidance on what needed to be done and you could make it all by yourself.

All smiles in the picture you had submitted to Class Dojo to Miss Ang
