Barbecue Party

Alex Ku-ku and Ah Kim planned to come back this weekend as it was Grampy and Nanna's wedding anniversary. So I managed to convince daddy (he claims that his arms were twisted) to cook barbecue at home instead of going out. Luckily we did that too. It was apparently the Goddess of Mercy's birthday and also St. Anne's feast. So dining in both BM and the island is out of the question.

A bit of confusion/miscommunication on the location of the party.. but they arrived in Minden just before 6pm. It was a simple and slow going dinner. Everyone ate a lot and had fun:

Daddy's grilled chickens. Smoking in the grill
Steaks resting just before it's served
Our dinner spread
The shark cleaning up the tomahawk bone
Family photo
It was fun. Ku-ku went home and almost instantly fell asleep. He says he fell into a "food coma". Just missing Ko-ko. Next time around.

Little Ducky

Daddy got you these duckies when he went for some whiskey tasting. And you have been wearing them on and off since then:
You wore it to ballet too. I could hear you and others bursting out in laughter then moment you walked into the studio!

Flower

We were all pleasantly surprised by this bloom. This plant was brought back from school quite a while back. One of the stalks died, while this one gave you a beautiful purple flower. You were so happy when you saw it.

Passport for Evelyn

This morning, I set my alarm clock to ring at 5.55am, despite it being the day off for me. I was going to log into the queue system for the Malaysian Immigration Office to get a number for you to go make your passport. At 6am sharp, I clicked on everything only to receive a message that the numbering would be given out at 6.10am. When I went back in at 6.10am, I got 128!!! Must have been conned by the system!

Anyhow, since the application notified me of the number being served, we knew when to go in. So we headed to Gurney Plaza to have lunch. After much deliberation, we decided to try this ramen shop Kanada-Ya Ramen. Er.. nothing spectacular about the food. So we won't be going there anytime soon again.

Wandered around the mall a little after that was it was still a while before your number. Then we headed to KOMTAR. Daddy dropped us outside so that we could quickly walk in first. And yet, we had to wait nearly an hour before it was your turn to have your details and photo taken. Made the payment and were told to come back after 30 minutes.

We walked towards the TOP where we'd been to see the dinosaurs exhibition etc before. It's a pity that the place cannot take off. There were barely anyone around.

Went to the loo. And took this photo while waiting for daddy.

We walked around the KOMTAR side where many shops are now closed. Then headed back to UTC. Daddy asked me to try my luck to see if your passport was ready. Luckily it was. All done and headed back home.

Everyone is now ready to travel. We've all got valid passports.

So many coins

Since you're so free, I asked for your help to sort out the coins. First is the foreign coins. Well.. I had actually just wanted the Japanese Yen coins. But you sorted the rest out by country, except that I put them all back into the same container, other than the JPY. Some coins were so hard to identify, we had to use Google lens to determine where it came from.

Then we sorted out the Malaysian coins. Packed them up and ready to exchange with my friend.

Karate Exams - Blue belt

The school has a fixed time for us to arrive. As usual, it's an easy drive to the Pusat Silat Negeri. Just a few minutes away. Shortly after we arrived, they called your group to gather on the mat.

Showing me your "meh" face
First to start with the moves you have learnt:
Then you need to partner with another to perform the newly demonstrated moves:
Thanking the examiner:
As we were leaving, your partner thanked you for helping her get the correct action.

Birthday Present

The first to wish me today is daddy. Then I also got a message from Ko-ko.

When we were on the way home, daddy asked me whether the two of you had wished me. I said yes for Ko-ko but nothing from Mei-mei.

But when I reached home, you gave me this tiny present:

Love the message you wrote for me. We each have one to keep with us. 💕

Date Day with my Princess

Today is a day off for me. Daddy is working as his company does not recognise this public holiday. So we both planned a day out. The initial plan was to watch a movie in GSC Queensbay. But daddy suggested that we headed to TGV in Paragon which has better sound and screens.

So we took a Grab to Gurney Plaza where we did a little shopping before you decided that you needed to sit down. We headed to Nando's to have lunch.

When we were done with lunch, we walked over to Gurney Paragon. Bought some shirts from H&M then headed to the cinema floor. We got our popcorn and a drink and waited for them to let us into the cinema. Today we watched Inside Out 2. It was a nice show.

And after the movie, you did not seem to want to go back yet. So we walked around a little in Watsons, and Jaya Grocer and picked some stuff before getting into our Grab to head home.

It was nice just spending time with you, listening to you telling me all sorts of things. We should do this more often 💕

Year 6 Awards Day

The Primary Awards Day for this year was in the morning. So we dropped you off in school then headed to Little India for our favourite breakfast. Then we headed back to school. Luckily the doors to the MPH was open by then. So daddy and I headed into the hall to get a good seat.
Soon the event started. Some awards were already given on Thursday. You'd already received for your role as a librarian and also for the Karate club.
Today, you got your trophy for achieving 1 perfect in your checkpoint. We're so proud of you.
After that you also got on stage to receive a "present" to mark the end of your primary years. The school aptly called it "Year 6 Progression Ceremony".
Receiving from Madam Julia
With your classmates and homeroom teachers
After all was done, you had some photos taken. And then you all signed on the shirts.. just like last year with Ko-ko.
Did not manage to get all the Year 6 kids.. but here are a bunch of them. Photo was taken by Anya's dad:
Three little girls.. have known each other since Year 1:
At long last, you were ready to leave. Today, we have Yuen Ting with us for lunch. You had already asked to go to Kirishima, so we headed there.
Finished off with a quick stop at Starbucks before we dropped Yuen Ting off back in school as she needed to attend her sister's Awards Day too.

Congratulations, our precious. You've now officially ended your primary school years.

Spice Rack

This is how you arranged the spice rack after daddy had fixed up the tiles and done the grout.

Notice anything? Yup, the spices are arranged by brand and the sauces at the bottom by height!

Paper Thosai

Yesterday we woke up a little earlier to go out to Little India for thosai breakfast. You willingly woke up to eat it as you missed it.

So here you are with your paper thosai:

Then I recalled having a photo of you with it from when you were younger.. so today I scoured my Google photos and found this:
It was taken in 2019. Funnily, you're wearing the same shirt in both photos!!

I'm pretty sure there should be one from 2017 when you were having lessons in British Council.. but I'm unable to find it.
