2026 Celebration of Learning

For this year's Celebration of Learning, you told me that I did not need to go. So I dropped you off at school early in the morning, like any other school day.

You had volunteered to work at the "Botanicals" booth. I think you enjoyed it. Got this photo of you manning the booth from MS Teams chat.

Picked you up at 12.30pm as planned and headed home for lunch and to rest.

2025 Celebration of Learning

As we approach the end of the school year, everyone in the school is in a frenzy for the preparation of the annual Celebration of Learning. This year you (only) have 3 tasks.. manning the Year 7 Science booth, helping out at the Botanicals booth to prepare the ingredients for the salads the booth is selling and also the dance performance.

I dropped you at school before 7am as you needed to help out in both booths. Then later I arrived back in school via Grab at nearly 9am. I thought that you told me your performance was at 9am! After a mad run to the MPH, I messaged you to find out that it was to start at 10am. Duh..

Chatted with Aunty Amy while waiting for your performance. It looked amazing, although someone did fling her fan away at the end of the dance 🤣

After that, I wandered around and had nothing to do. Caught up with you at the Science booth. But since it was so hot and I had nothing much to do, I headed to the training room to attend the secondary SAP. It was an interesting sharing and also a much welcomed rest for me to be able to sit down and enjoy the cool room.
By the time it was done, it was 12pm. So we waited a little for Ah Kong.
Photo of my pretty little gal with her makeup on
Lunch (like last year) was the pre-ordered McDonald's. Lucky for you that there was no ballet lessons. So you got to rest for the day.

Teacher's Day Celebration

As last week was exam week, the celebration was brought forward to this week.

I nearly forgot to plan earlier with you. In the end, I managed to place an order for Sunday's delivery and so we had to make lots of space in the 2 fridges to keep the items until today. You picked chocolate brownie and madeleine.

I asked you to prepare the card so that we can print and stick them to the boxes. Reminded you to ensure that the spelling is correct.. and yet when I checked my e-mail... there was a spelling error.. aiyo.. had to fix it and then have them printed..

The teachers were appreciative (although I cannot brain why you have so many teachers to give to). You received thank you in person and also via MS Team.

I'm glad we managed to get this small gifts to the teachers.

2025 School Excursion - Tropical Fruit Farm

Today is the excursion day. Your class year is heading to the Penang Tropical Fruit Farm. On the days leading to today, your friends reminded you NOT TO lose your bag again! Ahaha...

As usual, everyone were told to arrive in school by 7am, but a quick check on Find my iPhone at 8am showed that you were still in school. Shortly after that you started to move.

Later you showed me this:

Yup, a papaya tree. Not sure why you were so interested in this.

Some parents in the chat group also showed what was served: spaghetti and fried rice.

Later daddy and I went to school to pick you up at around 4pm.

I had given you some cash to buy whatever you wanted. So you came back with a bunch of banana, a box of tea for Ah Ma, a little ship in a bottle for daddy and also a bottle of shampoo for yourself. When asked how come I got nothing, you said that I'd usually get something whenever you go on a trip, so none for me this time 😒

Geography Assignment

Your team had met up at Vilmund's house on Thaipusam. Then last Friday they came over to the house after school. And at the end of the evening, you had nothing to show for it, other than 2 really heavy mounts of "Mountain" made of soaked paper Mache. Aiyoyo!

So on Saturday, I suggested that you all redo the mountain. In the end, I dropped you off at music class then picked up some supplies which may be useful for the project. Went home and started on the balloon. Had to get Ah Ma to help pick you and get lunch so that I can finish up on the layers of the "mountain". This was the initial output.. looks like an octopus:

You told me looked like a dog:

Well, you had to skip ballet lessons again. And your friends also changed the location to meet up to our house again. You all worked hard to redo the project. Even hesitated to take a 20min break when we brought back snacks for tea time. In the end, you all cleared the nuggets and fries and continued with the project. You managed to finish up by 6.30pm. Even had time to play badminton out in the garden before your friend's parents came to pick them up.

And this is the end product:

You called me today to tell me that your team received full score. And teacher laughed when you all told her the MVP is me since I went out to buy all the things that you needed. 🤣

Secondary Orientation Day

Today is orientation day. So we waited for daddy to come home, then we headed out to have lunch before going straight to school. By 11.30, you were all dressed up in your new school uniform.

It was a Friday and parking was so difficult to come across in town. We finally parked at the expensive parking lot and had lunch at Two Frenchies:

Giving me the side eye when I tried to take a photo
Then we went to school. Arrived with a few minutes to spare. Got a seat and soon the briefing started.
It was just a little over 2 hours. Halfway through the students headed to their homeroom to be further briefed by their homeroom teachers while the parents stayed at the MPH.

Year 6 Awards Day

The Primary Awards Day for this year was in the morning. So we dropped you off in school then headed to Little India for our favourite breakfast. Then we headed back to school. Luckily the doors to the MPH was open by then. So daddy and I headed into the hall to get a good seat.
Soon the event started. Some awards were already given on Thursday. You'd already received for your role as a librarian and also for the Karate club.
Today, you got your trophy for achieving 1 perfect in your checkpoint. We're so proud of you.
After that you also got on stage to receive a "present" to mark the end of your primary years. The school aptly called it "Year 6 Progression Ceremony".
Receiving from Madam Julia
With your classmates and homeroom teachers
After all was done, you had some photos taken. And then you all signed on the shirts.. just like last year with Ko-ko.
Did not manage to get all the Year 6 kids.. but here are a bunch of them. Photo was taken by Anya's dad:
Three little girls.. have known each other since Year 1:
At long last, you were ready to leave. Today, we have Yuen Ting with us for lunch. You had already asked to go to Kirishima, so we headed there.
Finished off with a quick stop at Starbucks before we dropped Yuen Ting off back in school as she needed to attend her sister's Awards Day too.

Congratulations, our precious. You've now officially ended your primary school years.

Celebration of Learning

This is an annual event held in the school towards the end of the school year. But waaaay before the date approaches, the students have been working hard on the materials they would need for the event.

Today, daddy dropped you in school before heading to his breakfast location. I planned to go at 9am by Grab when the event starts. Turned out it started at 8am. Oops..

Found you with these 2 antennas sticking out of your baret:

Then you paid for the potted plant which you planted very quickly.

Then we headed up to see the GB's Noah's Ark. The girls inside were so cute, telling me the story about Noah. And especially the little Evelyn who was selling me stuff then even asking for a donation.

Then headed down as it was about time for you GB march past.
Next was the recorder performance.

After some other performances, there was the finale of the recorder performance #2.

Ah Kong came to pick us up, then we headed to McDonald's to pick up the lunch I'd already pre-ordered and headed home for lunch with a super hungry little girl.

All Torn Up

Well, not really. It's just the stitches coming undone from your uniform. Two of your shirts. But they have served you well.. since Year 1!!

A few more months to go before you will be moving on to the secondary school. So I have stitched them up to last you these few months.

Return of Letchumi Ban

We were trying to recall your "Indian" name. Found it in last year's post. This morning was a mad rush to tie up your hair into two braids (didn't do a good job though.. ). Reusing the same lehenga this year. Looks like we will need to get you a new one next year. It's getting shorter...

Coincidentally I was also dressed up in my Indian costume as we were having a celebration in the office too:

Children's Day - Mayura

For this year's celebration, you asked to have a Mayura costume. It's obviously not a very famous character. In fact, she is the second antagonist in the cartoon Miraculous Ladybug.
So we worked to look for the parts to make your costume. We initially bought a piece of fabric with a peacock tail, but could not make it work. So did a little more Google-ing and found some DIY ideas. Luckily I ordered the felt and other materials earlier before we had to make the sudden trip to KL.
Last weekend, we proceeded to cut and assemble the parts of the dress. We drew the outline of the 4 layers of felt, cut them up and hot glued them together and then I sewed the "feathers" onto the black dress:
We also found a brooch similar to what Mayura has to house her Kwami:
I'd also ordered a purple fan and orders some white and blue boa to be added to the costume. On top of that I also made the headpiece for you.
The last part of the costume were the purple legging which stressed me out a lot as the online shop delayed in sending them out to us. In the end, it arrived just on time on Wednesday.
Daddy's right.. I do enjoy making these costumes with you. *grin*
Here is what Mayura looks like:
And here is my little Mayura (sans the big split up the front of your dress!!) And as a last minute addition, you brought along your ballet character shoe to complete the costume.
I'm glad that the allergy did not stop you from attending the last of your Children's Day celebration in school. Hope that you had fun in school. Some of your friend's parents had share photos of them in their costume. So cute.

First Day of Year 6

And only 1 kiddy in the car going to school...

Daddy was asking me how many more years of sending you to school.. the answer: 6 more years..

But I'm not complaining. It means I have my baby with me for another 6 years before she leaves the nest for college then uni.

IG Results Day

Checked with you yesterday and you told me it is expected to be out at around 1pm.

By lunch time, daddy told me he was feeling so nervous. Wondering if he should be at home with you when the results are published (especially since you asked if we would be working from home). Really wanted to ask you how the results were once 1pm rolled around.

But we waited a little and then we received this via WhatsApp:

Oh, wow! We're so proud of you. You did great, achieving what you wanted to get. Congratulations!

Evelyn's Awards Day

After a rushed lunch, we headed back to school. This time, we could not get a parking spot. We ended up parking on the road near McDonald's. Again, it was another walk back to the school.
We were a little later than the guests of honor's arrival.
Today you received 2 awards:
Music Award

Librarian Award
On top of receiving awards, today you were also an emcee/interviewer for the event. You would interviewed one of the top students as well as the parents of the stop students of the group.
It was a long day. We waited for you to finish and pack up then had enough time to head home for a shower and then dinner.

Year 11 Graduation and Awards Day

Today was an early day. We needed to drop you and Jeanni in school by 7.30am. We planned to have breakfast after dropping you all at school. In the end, daddy parked his car and we walked to the nearby McDonald's for breakfast. After that, we walked back to school where we needed to wait a little for the doors to the MPH to open for us. Parents with graduating students got to enter from a different entrance from the rest.

Our tickets
While waiting for the ceremony to begin, daddy managed to get a photo of you seated.
The ceremony started a little past 8am. I missed the earlier part as I had to wait with Aunty Amy for the delivery of flowers which she and Aunty Ean Na had ordered for you and for Abigail.

The ceremony began and you received 2 awards for this year:

Best for Physics
Best for Business Studies
There were some prayers, words of congratulations etc before the graduation certificate was given out. You were the 3rd of the whole graduating year to receive your certificate:
When the event was over, the Year 11 students were so excitable. Everyone was signing of almost everyone's shirt.
Signing someone's shirt
After quite a while inside the MPH, you monkeys adjourned to the photo booth where you spent another good 30 minutes taking photos and fooling around.
Daddy took this photo
Photo of you and your flower bouquets
A family photo
Here are some more photos from inside the MPH:
With Abigail
With your friends
With Abigail and family
We finally got to go home when you were done taking pictures and saying your goodbyes to your friends.
Went to buy lunch then headed home to inhale our lunch before heading out to school again for round 2 with Mei-mei.
