Grampy's Early Birthday Celebration + Reunion Dinner

It was a smaller scaled dinner seeing that the 2 big eaters Ko-ko and Alex Ku-ku were still in KL. Nanna had bought most of the stuff. We only added some stuff which we wanted to eat in the steamboat.

Quick.. I'm hungry!!
Some of our spread
We also took some time to take a family photo at the dining table:
After a very filling dinner, we cleaned up and rested a little before having the birthday cake for the birthday boy:

Happiest Birthday, Grampy/Dad 😘

Ku-ku is back. Birthday Celebration

Alan Ku-ku is back. He arrived on Friday, but we only went to BM on Sunday as Saturday is a busy day and traffic is really heavy crossing the bridge. As daddy did not play golf, we headed over to BM a little earlier and even got to eat Yam Rice, which we have not eaten for a long time.

Yam Rice
As usual, you kids will get a present from Ku-ku. This is a nice LOL Surprise doll.. such a lucky pick, purple mei-mei's favourite colour.

Ko-ko on the other hand received a pre-loved Sony ear phones which he was over the moon to receive. He even knows the selling price in Malaysia for that pair!

Ku-ku playing some game on the phone.
Ee-ee and Teo-teo arrived and as she said she did not really have lunch, we decided to have an early dinner. It was popiah which Ku-ku ended up cooking as Grampy was not feeling well enough to cook.
We had fruits then it was time for cake. It is actually Riley's birthday.
But the "birthday boys" also joined in.
*We missed celebrating for Grampy as he fell sick on the weekend we planned to celebrate and then Ko-ko had his trials

Reunion Dinner in BM

This year, we decided to dine out for the reunion dinner with the Yeoh's. So I booked a room at Daorae in Icon City. It was not too crowded, and we got to pick the larger room. Daddy ordered 2 of the sets and even wanted to add some lamb, but our nice server said to hold that lamb order and eat what we have first. It was good advice. We were all too full from the 2 sets, and he even packed up the kimchi soup we had. We were even given free tteokbokki (which we also packed home).

Happy Birthday Nanna

Due to "popular" request, Grampy and Nanna cooked "seh jit mee" aka "birthday noodles" for this year's celebration.
Grampy cooked the soup and we brought over the fried eggs which both Ko-ko and daddy fried. Then while daddy and I were busy fixing the rails in the bathrooms, I set the two of you to help cut up stuff. Mei-mei cut the eggs (really THICK strips) while Ko-ko cut the pork (and his finger too!).
After daddy finally fixed the rails in all 3 bathrooms and had his shower, it was dinnertime. Wow! It feels like it has been a long time since we all enjoyed the seh jit mee.
After washing up, we had some fruits before it was time for the birthday cake. We had a rude surprise when Ee-ee opened up the cake box. All the mangoes on top of the cake and slid off into the box. Some of the ladies fingers had also broken! Ko-ko helped to heap them back on the cake, and rotate the "Happy Birthday" sign so that we get a nice shot of the unbroken ladies fingers.
First on the sofa was Riley! She knew what was coming.

Happy Birthday, Grampy

Today, we headed to BM to have a belated birthday celebration for Grampy. We would usually plan to have the party before his birthday, but he had ran off fishing from the 3rd day of CNY up till the weekend. So we had it later instead.

Daddy cooked the meal as grampy had only a grand total of 3 teeth left (the plan was to have them all removed so that dentures could be made). And these 3 teeth seems to be more for display than for him to bite on anything! So since he needed soft food and the Covid cases were on the rise again, we decided to cook the food and bring it over.

Dinner was lasagna, boiled new potatoes and some (bought) pulled pork.

We also had a cake for him.

Mei-mei couldn't get over that he's call the "birthday boy" seeing that he's turned 80! Grampy only got to blow the candle on the third attempt after the two of you had a go with the candle!

Happy 80th Birthday, Dad/Grampy! We love you to the moon and back.

Reunion Dinner with the Yeoh's

We had been buying and buying so many things in preparation for the Chinese New Year. We're all very excited seeing that we had a very subdued celebration at home last year (first time ever we did not go to Ipoh nor to BM).

Here's the car boot.. fully loaded.. just for that one meal with everyone in BM:

As it was steamboat, we had bought a lot of the raw ingredients. All Nanna and Grampy had to cook was the soup.
The table laden with items to cook
The side table freed the main table from clutter and we could eat in peace
A random picture of everyone waiting for the soup to boil
We started ahead instead of waiting for Alex Ku-ku and Ah Kim because they had started their journey from KL late.. and of course the traffic on the highway didn't help the situation.

By the time we reached home, it was late. And luckily I had already packed for Ipoh (our clothes as well as the foodstuff) the night before. So all we had to do was have a quick shower and jump into bed.
Daddy said that his "express bus" would be leaving at 8am sharp for Ipoh the next day.

Visiting BM

We finally made a trip back to BM. The last time we went was in May just before the movement control came into effect.

Nanna kept her promise and got you the clogs:

This trip, daddy was the chef for dinner. Grampy kept asking whether we needed his help to prepare dinner. He must have been wondering why we haven't started cooking when it was already 5.30pm!
When Ee-ee and Teo-teo arrived, we started the preparation... the appetizers. Daddy also cooked up the meat while I prepared the appetizers.
After eating the appetizers, we left the rest at the dinner table, while we prepared the main course: Spaghetti Carbonara. Oops.. I'd forgotten to take pictures. The only other picture I have is this; the other bottle of wine *grin

Nanna and Grampy's Anniversary

Today is Nanna and Grampy's 52nd Anniversary. We we could not make it over to BM to celebrate with them, I placed an order for a cake as well as dinner for them. Nanna sent over these pictures:

Supporting a local animal shelter while enjoying her amazing layer cake
From a shop which we had wanted to try out for so long: The Butcher's Table
Nanna even has a selfie stick to take photos of themselves

Happy Birthday, Ee-ee

Today we bought layer cakes. Both to bring back to BM and to eat at home. And the cake in BM was for Ee-ee's birthday since her birthday would be on Monday.

This is the first time we would be back to BM since MCO 2.0 was implemented. Tonight Nanna and Grampy cooked up a feast. After dinner, we rested and cleaned up before singing the birthday song.
Funnily, Grampy seemed to think it was a "belated" birthday celebration. He seems to have forgotten that we have already celebrated through WhatsApp video on his actual birthday. And he sang "Happy Birthday to Grampy" and also blew out the candle!!
It was a funny celebration. Ee-ee tried to light the candle again for Evelyn to blow out, but as usual Ko-ko beat her to it.

Happy Birthday, Grampy

It is still MCO so we could not go over to BM to celebrate Grampy's birthday with him. So I arranged to have some food and also a cake to be delivered. Ee-ee and Teo-teo also joined in the celebration. For the cake cutting and singing session, we also joined in via WhatsApp video to sing the birthday song.

Happy Birthday, Grampy!

Back to BM

We haven't been back to visit Nanna and Grampy for a while. Especially since we have been in Conditional Movement Control Order and could not cross over to BM.
Nanna got Mei-mei an early Christmas present. And here she is posing with her fairy wings complete with colorful tutu:
We also visited Ah Chor, whom we have not seen for quite a while. As always she was very happy when she was told that you are both her great-grandchildren, making her a great-grandma.

Took some pictures from the visit:

Evelyn with Uncle Cyrus
Two kiddies with Ah Chor
We had dinner at home; Grampy cooked some dishes and soup while we added another 2 dishes.

Happy 70th Birthday, Nanna

We had plans for Nanna's big 70th. Unfortunately, with the MCO all had to be cancelled. So I arranged for cake and dinner to be sent to them. Too bad we could not be there to celebrate with her, but our thoughts are with her on her birthday.
No Grampy in the picture as he is the photographer *grin*. Here are pictures of Nanna and Riley and the food.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NANNA!!

Happy Birthday, Grampy

It's Grampy's birthday. So we headed back to BM to have dinner together and of course to have cake. We picked up the cake from our new to-go shop nearby, Jasmine Cake House. Mei-mei helped to pick the flavour.

Of course, my very artistic kids made personalized birthday cards for Grampy. They look amazing!
Mei-mei learned how to fold this card from YouTube.

Happy Birthday, Grampy.

Happy Birthday Nanna

Happy Birthday Nanna...
We were not in BM on her birthday, instead we went earlier on Friday to celebrate Ah Chor's birthday. While waiting for everyone to arrive, we took some pictures. Here's a funny pose from the both of you:
 Gramy and Nanna also smiles:

Birthday Present from Grampy

We had planned to make a trip back to BM earlier to celebrate your birthday with Nanna, Grampy, Ee-ee and Teo-teo, but we couldn't make it and the following weekend was spent in Ipoh. So we finally made it and Grampy had a nice gift for you.. a new set of rod and reel.
Dinner was spend eating Japanese at a nearby restaurant which was surprisingly not bad.
Looks like it's time to arrange a fishing trip. Daddy is also planning to get a fishing rod so that he can enjoy fishing with you and Grampy.

CNY Dinner and Grampy's Birthday

As usual, we had our early Chinese New Year celebration in BM and it doubled as Grampy's birthday too.
We had a lot of food which we slowly ate in the air-cond comfort in the living room.
We later had a cake which of course the two kids blew out the candle instead of Grampy.
