Our New Year's Eve Supper

It was a working day for us, but since we wanted a little festivities, daddy and I went to Jaya Grocers to buy some cold cut and to pick up a bottle of Prosecco. Then we headed to The Wine Shop to pick up some soft cheese (we had hard ones at home).

And so this was our spread as we waited for the clock to chime 12 midnight and the start of 2019!!

2012 New Year

The new year just crept up on us. We were all dead tired that before the clock struck 12 midnight, ushering the year 2012, we were all asleep oblivious to the happenings around us. We only woke up and wished each other a "Happy New Year" the next day after a good night's sleep.

So how did we spend the first day of 2012? Why, lazing around the house of course. After so many days of walking and early morning calls it's time we relaxed in our comfy house. And I had another day to rest before going back to work. As for you, you had two days before the first day of school. Lucky little boy!!

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival

Last Monday was the Mid-Autumn Festival. Uncle Sin Chuan called daddy to ask if we'd like to go to Uncle Sin Tien's house just for the kids to play with the lanterns. So we had a shower then had dinner and got ready to go to Uncle Sin Tien's house. It was daddy's first time going so we had to get his address as we also needed to register at the guard house.

We arrived before Uncle Sin Chuan and family. Only Uncle Sin Tien was at home as Aunty Ean Na had a dinner. While daddy took a "house tour" you settled yourself in front of the TV, flicking through the cartoon channels.

We'd brought along your "Cars2" lantern which we had bought a while back. We'd learned our lesson from previous times so this time daddy made sure he picked a lantern which did not play annoying songs really loud non-stop. We wanted one with a simple light, but they only had flashing lights.. oh well.. as long as it does not play those songs!

Uncle Sin Chuan came with the more traditional paper lantern, not those glassy transparent paper which we had last time, but these ones did not have lights. It was lighted using candles or tea lights. He'd bought tealights to put inside.

Daddy took pictures of you all with your lanterns:

All smiles with your lantern

Ian was very interested in daddy and his camera. Everytime daddy wanted to take a picture, Ian would go in front of the camera to pose:

We managed to get a picture of the 3 of you together.. not an easy feat:

After a while it got too hot and we all went inside to enjoy the air-cond comfort and to snack a little:

One last shot of Ian before daddy called it a day and kept his camera:

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival

This year we bought you a lantern for the Mid-Autumn Festival.. Wait... make that TWO lanterns. Hehe.. we bought one for you that was in the shape of a pig a long time before the Chinese 8th month started. Then later mummy and daddy went to Tesco and saw a Winnie the Pooh shaped lantern so we bought that for you too.
To be honest, you weren't too interested in either, but they both have this really annoying music, so daddy cut the wire that plays the music. So.. your lantern only has lights. But it's a relief to our ears! But you seem to prefer the Winnie the Pooh lantern. You would sometimes take it and turn on the light. Unfortunately there is something wrong with it, so the lights will not turn on sometimes. But you seem to know what to do with it. A little whack here and there.. and voila! It's working again! Haha...
Ah Ma cooked many special dishes (2 veggies, fish, prawn) tonight for this occassion. Daddy also bought "pei pa" duck to add to the dishes. You had your moi moi cooked with beef. Don't know why, but we forgot to introduce beef to your diet. So we started on Sunday, and you seem ok with it. Phew.. daddy is very happy, he will have another "kaki" to have his favourite steak with!
After dinner, mummy gave you a bath and we were off. Ah Ma wanted to bring you to Gurney Drive to have a look at the people carrying lanterns. In fact on the way there, we saw this really pretty lantern parade which even had a band. But... you were not interested in it at all. Similarly with the people carrying lanterns on Gurney Drive. We also drove by Esplanade, you were only interested in the lights in Ah Kong's car.
Nevermind, we'll try again next year...
P/S: Had difficulty trying to get a picture of you with your lantern!
