Great Gatsby Party

We received an invitation from Uncle Sin Chuan to join in his company's annual dinner this year. One week before the party, daddy and I realised that it was themed. It was "The Great Gatsby". Oh dear... so we quickly placed an order online for some stuff which thankfully arrived on time.

I had on magnetic eyelashes, which daddy had helped me put on.. we tried MANY times to finally get them to stick properly and not look too wonky. How do I survive without this man....?

Then the 4 of us hopped into daddy's car and headed to Marriott Hotel for the part. We started off with pre-dinner cocktails then headed into the event hall.

Soon, dinner was served. In between, we were entertained by the staff of the company, heard speeches from the bosses, watched the videos of the employees presenting their breakthrough.
Tou-tou was so tickled when daddy put his hat on her
Ah Kong also looked so stylo in the hat
Tou-tou had too much to drink that she was shrieking when they brought her to the restrooms. In the end, Uncle Sin Tien and family had to call it a night slightly earlier, just as the party was winding down.

We also had to leave earlier as we had an early start of the next day.

Barbecue Party

Alex Ku-ku and Ah Kim planned to come back this weekend as it was Grampy and Nanna's wedding anniversary. So I managed to convince daddy (he claims that his arms were twisted) to cook barbecue at home instead of going out. Luckily we did that too. It was apparently the Goddess of Mercy's birthday and also St. Anne's feast. So dining in both BM and the island is out of the question.

A bit of confusion/miscommunication on the location of the party.. but they arrived in Minden just before 6pm. It was a simple and slow going dinner. Everyone ate a lot and had fun:

Daddy's grilled chickens. Smoking in the grill
Steaks resting just before it's served
Our dinner spread
The shark cleaning up the tomahawk bone

It was fun. Ku-ku went home and almost instantly fell asleep. He says he fell into a "food coma". Just missing Ko-ko. Next time around.

Barbecue Party

It has been a long time since we had many people over to the house for a party. This year, we agreed to have a party for your 10th birthday. You requested to have barbecue. So daddy (reluctantly) agreed.

Planning of the menu was done way ahead and we also had to buy the steaks (you had specifically requested for this) a few days in advance to dry age them in the fridge.
Our trusty grill
Everyone had a Pokemon allocated to them.

Daddy started off with cooking the chicken which we kept warm in the oven when it was cooked. We also cooked the potatoes and veggies in the oven.
Next on the grill were the steaks.
Look at the flame!
While the steaks were resting, daddy ran off for a quick shower. Then he came down to cook the prawns.
Prawns on the grill
Finally everyone arrived. And it's time for dinner:
Our dinner spread
Perfectly cooked steaks
We were all very full from dinner. So we sat around a little and then it was time to bring out the cake:
Cake all beautifully boxed and delivered to us

Then it was time to open presents:

It was a lovely party. We missed having your cousins and uncles and aunties, Tou-tou and also Bo-bo Poh at the house.

Evelyn's Birthday At Home

We decided not to have a party this year as we are still in RMCO and we were not sure if there would be problems (i.e. police checking us) for having over 20 people in the house. So the initial plan was to have a simple barbecue (birthday girl's request) at home. Then Chim Poh checked to ask if we were having a party. So we extended the invitation to the 3 of them.

With that, our dinner menu expanded. And this is what we had for dinner:

Missing the steamed corn. It only made it's way to the table after the picture was taken.

Of course, we already had our pre-dinner drinks. And this was the wine we had with our dinner
The plan was to have Mulan theme but in the end, you could not resist and took out the Else dress which I had bought for you to wear. Look at the pretty princess, all so dainty (that was only at the start of the evening *lol*):

Found this selfie on my phone!
After dinner, it was cake time. Can you see the Mulan on the cake?
Then it was time to take pictures with the birthday girl:
Even Kor Poh who is usually camera shy had her picture taken with you:
And of course, the presents:
This is the present from Ko-ko
Barbie Made to Move as requested
And Enchantimals (extra present for you since you had no party with your cousins this year)
The both of you checking out the presents

Evan's 12th Birthday

As usual, the birthday celebration was the Saturday before your birthday (as the 29th was a weekday). As you were turning 12, we agreed on this mustache.

This time we opted for barbecue (your favourite), but we kept the menu simple. Daddy started preparing earlier, so by the time our guests arrived, most of the food was ready.

Cousins

We found these mustache straws. So suited to the party theme

After dinner, it was time for cake. This year we opted for a new cake shop and the gave us this very unusual candle.

And then it was time to open the presents. There was a "mysterious box" which appeared out of nowhere after you got back from robotics class. So obviously, that was the first present you opened.

It came with this message, but I think in your haste to get to the present, you did not bother to read it,

After opening the many layers, you got to the present.

Ah.. all smiles

And on to the other presents

And the other highlight of the night was the handmade crossbow which Grampie made for you.
