Toothless Tiger

On the day of your birthday, your tooth decided to be too loose. So before the party started, daddy gave your tooth a gentle tug and it came off. 

It's so shaky already

Ta-da.. bou geh

And very excitedly, you asked to put the tooth inside the tooth album (you finally got to use it!!). I asked if you wanted to put it under your pillow for the tooth fairy to give you some money, but you didn't want to do it. So we put it into the album and even informed Nat Kor-kor (who gave you this album) that you finally have a tooth to place into the album.

Update: Now you decide that you want to put that tooth under your pillow! Haiyo.. not allowing that. So lucky thing your other tooth is now shaky. You will soon have a new tooth to put under your pillow. 

Evelyn's 6th Birthday Party at Home

We usually try to prepare food which you kids like to eat for your birthdays. This year for your 6th birthday party, we prepared local specialties which you prefer to eat. Ah Ma also added to the dishes with her very crispy roast pork. 

This year only Audrey and Ko-ko (and your 3 year old Ee-ee) were the children who made it to the party. But we still had fun. Here you are giving instructions for the "Find the Num Noms Treasure Hunt":

As it was still early, we allowed you to unwrap all the presents and even picked a few to open and started playing them with Audrey.

School 6th Birthday Party

Your birthday was something you had been looking forward to for a long long time. And this year for school, you requested a butterfly themed cake. Coincidentally, we had also bought a butterfly print dress. It was rather loose, but you were very keen to wear it. (The night before, I let you try it and got you to ask daddy if it was too big. You went down to check with him and told me "Daddy said it looks very pretty.." aiya.. that wasn't what I asked you to check with him. Anyways, you got your wish to wear that dress).

The next morning was easy to wake you up. Even your hairstyle was planned by you.

As usual, we dropped Ko-ko at school, then dropped you off at school. Then we headed off for breakfast and then back to school to wait for 9am to come (as requested by your teacher).

While waiting, we put the finishing touches to the cake: to decorate the cake with the pre-cut butterflies.

The class sang the birthday song in 3 languages and they even said a prayer for you

You served most of your classmates the cake and even brought some for the other 6 year old class teachers.

Unfortunately, I wasn't aware that we were no longer allowed to give party packs. But Miss Varghese made an exception as you were also leaving the school earlier that year.

Pancakes for Brunch

Since it was a public holiday and daddy was off for golf, we decided to make another round of pancakes. This time I doubled up the recipe. I had to use the mixer (which was a good choice) to whisk the egg whites and also to mix up the other ingredients.

When Ko-ko finally crawled out of bed, I had started frying up the pancakes.. but it was very slow. So he took another pan and helped me to fry them up. It was a good thing too, or else I reckon I would be standing at the stove for an extra hour if not for his help.

So, ta-da.. here's our pancakes. Had to go with honey as we had run out of maple syrup.

We went to G Hotel for dinner to celebrate Ah Kong's birthday. After dinner, we stood around the lounge. I tried to take a picture of the two of you together.. didn't manage a decent picture at all *ggrrrr*

Miss Octopus Goes to School

You requested to have your hair tied up as "octopus" i.e. 8 braids. It usually takes me about 20 minutes to tie it up. So I told you to quickly eat up your breakfast and have a quick shower. And we made it. Tied all 8 braids with enough time for me to get ready too!!

Even Mrs. Sebastian was surprised. She thought that I had tied your hair the night before... 

Evan's Awards Night

For the last day of school, it was the Awards Night for the school. No, you did not receive any award, but I hope that you had a good time learning and coping in the new school. Proud to say that you still played an important role that night, working in the back to take care of the sound system for the whole evening with your team.

The only time you made an appearance was for the finale, choir. Despite sitting quite up front, we could not get a clear shot of you as you were skulking behind your friend. 

We tried to see if you really did sing (you insisted that you did....), but that's fine. Just as long as you had fun. 

Graduation Photo Day

After so many postponement due to the HFMD, the date is finally set for the graduation photos to be taken. I had asked Mrs, Sebastian the day before if it was a good idea for you to be wearing the graduation robes so early in the morning. She reassured me that it was ok as she would ensure all children are more well behaved on that day (so as not to dirty or worst tear the robes!!)

Lasagna Night

Since Ah Kong and Ah Ma were on holidays in Vietnam, we had to cook dinner for ourselves. Afetr much deliberation, we finally agreed on having lasagna. It.Was.Superb!!

Visitors from US

Aunty Pam and Uncle Sam made a stopover at Penang during their holiday in this part of the world. They stayed over for a few days before hopping on a plane with Ah Kong and Ah Ma to go to Ho Chi Minh city.

Teacher-Hairstylist Evelyn

Ah Ma says that the first thing you had been doing when you woke up in the morning is to go to your playroom and to comb and style your toy's hair. Here's one of the hairstyle which you had created for your Anna:

And on this day that I am sitting in the room as you played (you have a wonderful imagination), you became your toy's teacher, teaching them English words also:

It is really cute to observe you playing teacher or whatever role which you want to be. You even know to take on different tone of voices to pretend to be each toy. 

Attempted Weekend at Home

It was HFM season and many cases in Penang. So we tried to stay at home more than to go out as what we'd usually do on the weekends. Didn't really work. We ended up going out to the Pulau Tikus market in the morning... but we avoided the market. Instead while Ah Ma went to buy her things, we had a little "date" in the cafe/bakery:

In the afternoon, we had to go to Jusco to buy some ingredients for dinner. So we ate lunch and then went to buy our things. You just had to take a picture with the elephant: 

And we successfully stayed at home that evening. Daddy and I prepared our "Japanese" dinner of Udon with Miso soup and of course, gyoza:

On Mummy's Actual Birthday

Woke up in the morning to find this surprise. Every year, daddy somehow manages to buy me a birthday card:

Early Birthday Celebration

My early birthday celebration was set on the Saturday. Daddy had booked a table at Il Bacaro, an Italian restaurant downtown. Problem was the day we picked to have dinner was ALL WRONG. Haha.. it was also Goergetown Heritage Day and the whole downtown (where dinner was) was super jammed with people. Daddy dropped us and had to search everywhere before he finally got a place to park his car. Didn't get to take pictures of all the food we ordered. They were all delicious.

Haircut for everyone

Daddy had his hair cut the day before but on the next day, since you both went in for a haircut, he had Uncle Austin to take off more of the sides so that there is a distinct difference (like the footballers.. yup, it's World Cup season). This is the outcome:
