Grade 3 Ballet Exams

Opted to WFH today as we needed to drop you off at the ballet center. 

It is surprisingly only less than a year since you last took your Grade 2 exams. Miss Foo had to evaluate you and finally gave her consent to allow you to take the exams this year with your friends. 

We arrived at 11am, as requested by the ballet school. Since you didn't go to school, you got to sleep in. But then you spent too much time in front of the tv, you had to rush to shower and dress up and do a Covid test.

Upon arrival, you immediately had your hair worked on. That was when I left and went home to continue working. 

Then I received a couple of pictures from one of your friend's mum. So nice of her to share the photos with me. 

Arrived at 12.40pm which was when you were supposed to finish the exams, but ended up having to wait a while for you girls to come out. 

We quickly took some pictures of the 3 of you before grabbing your stuff and heading off.

We could not decide on what to have for lunch. Ko-ko was with us. In the end, daddy suggested Gravy Baby in Queensbay to which everyone happily agreed to:

Karate White Belt Exam

You called me at work on Thursday to tell me that you had been selected to take the white belt exam. And it was to be held on Sunday. Talk about short notice!!

Anyhow, I went back and reached out to your Sensei. She was a nice lady who asked if you could attend extra lessons on Saturday, which unfortunately clashes with your ballet class and was a lesson you could not miss either seeing Monday was your ballet exams!

She was nice enough to share me a video to show you on the steps again which would be demonstrated during the exams.

This morning, we woke up to have breakfast and then Ah Ma dropped us off at the Pusat Sukan Negeri (reminded me of Ko-ko's Wushu MSSPP competition). 

Upon arrival, you sat down with your group mates while I gave the instructor your application form and exam fees. Luckily I joined the other parents to sit down inside the hall while waiting for your turn.

It was finally your turn to go with the group. You were the last of the students to be examined.

And we are done. Waited a while for Ah Ma to come and then we headed to Tanjung Bungah to buy lunch as you had requested... nasi lemak.

Menya Miyabi

We planned to eat out for today's lunch. Ko-ko had asked his friends for suggestions. But they were in Tanjung Bungah, which I didn't mind as I could park in City Junction, but maybe he decided that it was too far for me to drive, so we ended up in Queensbay. We arrived before 11.30am but the carpark was full. Luckily I spotted a family leaving, so we got a parking spot.

The menu remained as Japanese. So we headed there to eat our lunch.

But before getting to the carpark, we stopped by this Japanese section of AEON and bought some jelly (which we ended up giving to kakak to bring back to her grandchildren).

Sous Chef and Assistant Chef

Main Chef was away as he needed to go to Ipoh for Cheng Beng. As we were at home, we decided to have grilled salmon with potato gratin. Ko-ko was supposed to be the next chef in line.. 

Daddy called me just as we started to cook. So he "supervised" via video chat.

Ko-ko was all decked up in apron and all.. looking so professional. Once the oil started splattering, he tried to protect himself with the lid.. but in the end, he ran away! 

Anyhow, we still managed to cook the salmon and the gratin was already out of the oven. Here are the photos of dinner:

In fact, the fish was too small a portion even for Mei-mei. I had expected to have to help finish up her dinner. But she cleaned her plate. Before dinner she was my "taste tester" for the gratin which she decided to take a great love to, and she abandoned her baked potato for gratin. We have created another gratin fan!

Luckily for Ko-ko, there was leftover steaks from the BBQ so he ate that up too. 

Day Off

Took the day off. Daddy had a dentist appointment so the 4 of use went there together. We planned to have lunch after that and since it was Otto Pizza in Hillside, Ko-ko had to wake up so early to join us. First was thosai breakfast then we headed to the dentist. 

Daddy's session was quite short, so we arrived quite early, but thankfully it was already open.

Our table was so small, we wondered how the waited planned to put the second pizza. Then I saw him walking towards us with a giant can of tomato puree. Oh.. now I get it.. great idea!

Luckily we ordered only 2 pizzas. We nearly could not finish the last few pieces!

Our 17 Year-Old

 
Happy birthday to our big boy. 17 years old already! 

We can still remember being able to carry you in just one arm. And now, we cannot carry you at all *grin*

But we are as proud of you now as we were when we first held you in our arms. You have grown up well and we hope that you continue to grow into a fine young man. 

May you have all the best that the world has to offer.

Birthday BBQ

We had the Yeoh's over for a BBQ/birthday celebration for Ko-ko.

As usual, there was steaks (a must!), chicken, prawns, squid, corn, baked potato and apple salad.

Ku-ku is back. Birthday Celebration

Alan Ku-ku is back. He arrived on Friday, but we only went to BM on Sunday as Saturday is a busy day and traffic is really heavy crossing the bridge. As daddy did not play golf, we headed over to BM a little earlier and even got to eat Yam Rice, which we have not eaten for a long time.

As usual, you kids will get a present from Ku-ku. This is a nice LOL Surprise doll.. such a lucky pick, purple mei-mei's favourite colour. 

Ko-ko on the other hand received a pre-loved Sony ear phones which he was over the moon to receive. He even knows the selling price in Malaysia for that pair!

Ee-ee and Teo-teo arrived and as she said she did not really have lunch, we decided to have an early dinner. It was popiah which Ku-ku ended up cooking as Grampy was not feeling well enough to cook.

We had fruits then it was time for cake. It is actually Riley's birthday.

But the "birthday boys" also joined in. 

*We missed celebrating for Grampy as he fell sick on the weekend we planned to celebrate and then Ko-ko had his trials

Evelyn: Goodnight mummy. Why is your hair still wet? You'll get sick if you sleep with wet hair, you know...

Mummy: I know.. it should dry before I fall asleep *heart melts*

Miss Vainpot

Took pictures of you drying your own hair. You used to just leave it wet and dripping. Your hair is not very dry, but better than being very wet. Glad to see that you are able to take care of yourself. 

Wee Wee Monster

Urgh.. got woken up from my sleep by a "mummy.. mummy.." "Huh? What? What?" "I peed on the bed"

Poor daddy got jolted awake as I had exclaimed "Again??"

As it wasn't too wet, I just put a small towel on the bed and told you to continue sleeping in your bed.

This is the second time within a month of this happening. Aiyo.. The earlier time was a big pee.. so I had to put a towel to dry it up and have you squeeze in between us on the bed. 

Funnier still was what you whispered to me the next day "Mummy, it felt so satisfying when I let go.. until I realised I was on my bed!" And we always dream of doing a pee when we really need to go! It also happens to me, of course I do not pee on my bed.

Daddy called you a "Wee wee monster" the next day which got you really angry.

Wedding Dinner in Ipoh

Today, we had to rush to Ipoh. Mei-mei could not miss any more ballet lessons, so we left after she got home from lessons and had a shower. So Ko-ko also got to attend his guitar lessons. 

It was a rather mad drive. At some parts of the highway, we had to come to a halt. 

But we made it on time (7pm) at Tong Hooi. Most of the guest had already arrived.
