Where's Evelyn?

Can you spot her?

Christmas Tree Bully

Daddy was chatting with me about what you did:
Daddy: That naughty girl, she purposely knock into the Christmas tree with her ride on. Despite my warning to her not to do it.
Mummy: Then what happened?
Daddy: I smacked her on her thigh
Evelyn: Da-da kiss

When I looked at daddy, he laughed and admitted that he did kiss you because he felt guilty for hitting a little too hard. Not sure if was planning on admitting to kissing you but you let the cat out of the bag for him.

And of course, after that you continued to knock into the tree. Last Sunday one of the bulbs on the fairy lights even broke when you crashed into the tree.

But seems like you are better behaved after that.

Updated (17 Dec): my mistake. You "crashed" into the tree twice last night!!

A Belated Birthday Dinner

We decided onVia Pre which we haven't gone in a while. It was a good thing I made reservations. It was packed but I reckon we were given a nice table away from the crowd.
We had a great selection of food from the lobster pasta to share to the main courses we individually ordered to the wine daddy ordered for the night. You both had a good time with Evelyn behaving very well in her high chair and when she eventually got off the chair, she just played around out table and the long bench next to our table.

We then went home to complete the meal with the wonderful sliced cakes we had bought in the afternoon. Even Evelyn had a share of the chocolate cake which she obviously enjoyed:

Evan's Model

A favourite thing for you to do is to take pictures of your creations.  So after building this car ramp from Evelyn's many Barney DVDs you decided to take a picture.
Like the car display at the malls, you also have a pretty girl modelling your creation:

Choo-choo Train Ride

We went to Gurney Plaza today and daddy brought you to look your latest fascination, the Christmas tree. On our way to the new wing, we spotted something nice and interesting.

I planned to let you ride with Mei-mei by yourselves.  But the man running the ride was worried Evelyn get afraid halfway during the ride. So he asked mummy to join in the ride but just paying for 2. But we paid for 3 to be fair to them.

So here are the 3 of us smiling at daddy, enjoying ourselves:

Evelyn Self-feeding

As usual if mummy lets you have lunch, you will end up self-feeding. Today you fed yourself while I took pictures of you enjoying lunch.
Halfway through lunch, you said "chu chu tain (train)" before putting the spoonful of porridge in your mouth. This was something you picked up from Nanna when she fed you dinner over two weeks ago.  Seems like your long term memory is improving as I didn't expect you to remember that simple game she played with you to get you to finish dinner.
Love the way you eat your food, as if it's the best food ever:

Haircut Again

As usual it was time for Ko-ko to have his haircut. This time, you also needed a cut and not just trim your fringe. The hair at the back is getting quite long and it irritates you when you eat... especially when the fan is blowing at you.
So many days before we went for your haircut, mummy had no prep you:
Mummy: uncle cut hair for you,ok?
Evelyn: ha (that's how you say "yes")
Mummy: will you cry?
Evelyn: no
Mummy: can you move?
Evelyn: no

But of course after asking too many times perhaps you got bored so you teased me back by saying "ha" with a cheeky smile.
I'm glad to say that you behaved really well during the haircut and you look very nice.

This is your before and after picture:

Blur Case

Mummy picked you from school today. As you walked towards me, you realised that you had left your water in class. The teacher told you to take it tomorrow. So we went off.
Later when it was time to do your homework, you found out that it was not your water bottle that you had left behind. Instead, you had taken the wrong schoolbag! !!
So blur. Then again, I carried your bag to the car and even zipped up the bag and didn't notice the missing key chains on your bag. So who's more blur today?

Where's Our Lunch, Daddy?

Time to take some pictures while waiting for daddy to bring us our lunch.

Craft Time for Evelyn

Finally got a little time with you to introduce a little craft work. You had found some stickers which we had bought when we were in KL.
So I took a piece of paper and let you go crazy with the stickers.  You were ok to remove most of the stickers but some 'little girls' got chopped into half as you did not remove them carefully and tore them.  As for the smaller ones they got stuck to your fingers and had problems sticking them to the paper.
You were certainly proud of your artwork as you quickly showed daddy the masterpiece. You even took my phone and attempted to take a picture of your work.

Need a taxi? Contact Mr. Ban the taxi driver.
This was the number plate you created which was complete with your made up mobile number:

A Halloween Party

This year Aunty Wooi Sin invited you over again for a Halloween party at her house for fun and games. You ate a light dinner of lor mai kai which Ah Ma had bought from Ipoh before heading over to Sean's houses.
You very happy to wear back last year's costume. So here is our Bat-boy who's all grown taller from last year (I had to release all the folded part for the legs). Of course, the little girl had to pose just like you for me too:

Here you are with Sean in his costume:

This years party was a smaller group.  Other than you two boys the rest were girls with 3 of them dressed in the Frozen theme. The night was filled with games and craft.
You even took over with a 'Treasure hunt' game, hiding the chocolates you had brought over to share with the kids.
We went over to pick you at at close to 11pm but you along with all the other kids did not seem to have enough of the night yet. After a lot of persuasion the party finally ended.
You went home for a shower and took some time to wind down from a night of spooky fun.

Halloween Hunt

Ko-ko wanted to have a Halloween hunt since we bought you both a pumpkin candy carrier. So after dinner yesterday, Ko-ko hid 5 candies (he was so kind he made it very easy for you to find them) while I hid 5 and made it difficult for him as requested.

Here you are posed with your pumpkin:
Before Ko-ko found all his 5 candies, you already started to eat them:
And here are the two of you after the hunt:

Enjoying Each Other's Company

This is what we do while waiting for daddy to pump tyre pressure yesterday.  We went to so many stations because many had faulty tyre pressure pump:

Happy birthday, Ah Kong

For Ah Kong's birthday this year we headed to CRC for dinner.  Before that,we had stopped by a bakery after music classes to pick up a few slices of cake.
The food as usual was great and we brought wine also. Finished off with a birthday song and the both of you helped Ah Kong blow out the candle.

Big Oh-wee

You are growing up so quickly.  From simple words you are joining 2 words. Last Saturday when we were in the car on the way to drop Ko-ko to school for Wushu you said "big oh-wee". I did not get what you were trying to say and only realised you meant "big lorry" when you pointed to a lorry. You can even differentiate between a car, van and motorcycle.
Yesterday you surprised us further when you answered Ko-ko "Mama got nennen" when he told you "Mummy has no more nennen".
I guess you'll talk even more when you start going to school.

Evelyn's 2nd Birthday Invitation

Since you seemed to like Elmo mummy decided to make an Elmo themed birthday. Here's the invitation card:

Evelyn's Birthday T-shirt

Since Evelyn's second birthday had an Elmo theme most things were planned with this in mind. Unfortunately the T-shirt I had ordered could not arrive on time.
So I managed to find Tesco selling singlets. And I printed out a picture of Elmo, traced on one and asked you to color it. You certainly did a good job.
Happy with the first singlet, you wanted to draw more but instead I gave you another which you immediately drew in without even using a pencil to draft.
After all was done you finished the job by taking pictures of your artwork too:

Sunday Evening in KL

After the long lunch we headed back to the hotel for a siesta.

Again after Evelyn had her late afternoon nap followed by a swim in the deserted pool (most guests checked out that day since the next day was a school day).

Dinner was a simple one at one of the Japanese restaurant in Isetan. Daddy then left to join his friends in Uncle Hun Kheng's house while we wandered around 1 Utama.

Found these rides which you used to love.  I had little coins in my purse so we only managed 1 ride.

Went into Pumpkin Patch to look for a pair of sunglasses for you and the girls in the shop found enough small change to exchange so that you both got another ride:

After walking a bit more we headed back to the room where you helped me keep Evelyn entertained while I packed.
Then put you both to sleep. Such a long day that Evelyn slept almost immediately while you dozed off watching cartoons.

Wedding Lunch in KL

We had a light breakfast before getting ready nd heading to Tropicana Golf Resort where Uncle Hun Kheng's wedding lunch was held.
Evelyn fell asleep on the way there but woke up the moment we reached the hall. Lunch was good and you both enjoyed the good food. Even needed a diaper change.
The highlight of the day was when it was time to yum seng. Look at you lifting your drink in cheers to the new couple and joining in by shouting yum seng too:

Our Second Day in KL

We lazed in bed on Saturday morning.  So we were rather late for breakfast. But not too late. We still managed to try out quite a few things from the very large breakfast selection.
After a leisurely shower we headed to 1 Utama next door for a little walkie walkie. Bought some things and you both were starting to get restless and tired. So we headed back to the room where Evelyn fell asleep quickly while you snacked and watched TV.
It looked dark outside and daddy offered to bring you swimming before the rain came but you insisted that you wanted all 4 of us to go swimming.  So since Evelyn had napped for almost 2 hours we woke her up and went swimming.
The water was cold and the wind didn't make things better.  So after 20 mins or se Evelyn and I went back to the room for a warm shower and went back down to join you as you had your hot chocolate.
Later on we went to Uncle Hun Kheng's house for dinner and you both had a wonderful time playing in his really big house.
Went back  and we all KO-ed almost as soon as our heads touched the pillow.

A Short Holiday

It was a good coincidence that daddy's uni mate had his wedding during the school holidays.  Luckily we had enough time to plan a short getaway to KL too. Managed to get a room in One World Hotel which was the company's corporate hotel so we got a good rate.
Planned to leave on Friday after breakfast but you decided to have a tummy ache so another detour home before starting the journey.
We arrived on time for lunch which was a quick bite at Ikea followed by some walkie walkie.
Checked into the hotel and Mei-mei continued to nap for a while. By the time she woke up it rained so no swimming. Instead, we headed to Jakes for our steak fix... more accurately yours and daddy's.  Mei-mei got her "balloon fix".
When we'd finished with dinner we headed to BSC to do a little shopping.  Boy was it crowded.  Daddy had to go very far down to finally get a parking spot.
Went back and shortly you both fell asleep. Or maybe mummy slept first.. it sure was a long day.

Daddy's Boss

Hi, it's me Evelyn.  Yup I am daddy's boss. Loook at me supervising daddy as he makes my favourite fruit yogurt. Yes, he's adding mangoes to the yogurt and I need to make sure he does a good job!!
Mummy on the other hand was busy taking pictures of me doing my job. And I even had to take my eyes off daddy to pose for her. What a tough job.
But the best part was the taste test. Yummy.. Slurp!  Good job, daddy. Kiss kiss.

Cool Kids

You were both watching Barney and there was an episode where the kids were by the beach wearing sunglasses. Knowing that there were sunnies from a long time back. Ko-ko took 2 pairs, one for him and another for you...

Spotty at 23 Months Old

How did you get so spotty? Because you love stickers and would tell mummy "aand" (hand) and stick out your hands to me asking for them knowing that I keep them in my bag. After you've gotten two for your hands you'll say "toeshh" for more to be stuck on your feet. Sometimes you'd given some to Ko-ko too.
Other times even the "paid" tape which we get from9m the supermarket is good enough for you.

Evan's Sword

Asked for cardboard in this color then dug for my scissors next asked for tape then double sided tape and asked me to help cut.. just to make your "fei tao". I have no idea what it's supposed to be. Lo9ks like  double sided sword. It's still WIP as the sword need to be flattened since the cardboard I gave you was rolled up.
Next you asked for this cardboard and that and ended up with this sword:

Even made a mini one for Mei-mei but it's already missing.

Back to her Cheerful Self

Thank goodness the our little cheerful baby is back. Only in short bursts but rather than the lethargic and whinging baby:

Scary Week

It's been a long week. When we thought that your fever was over it came back again... with a vengeance!!
As Friday was 5 days of fever we headed to the ER on Saturday morning to see Dr. Mary (it was not a working day so we needed to go there). As we waited to see her you had another round of diarrhoea.  The ER nurse kindly let me use one of the gurney in there to change you. I was shocked to discover that there was blood in your stools. Just as I mentioned it to the nurse, Dr. Mary walked in and also saw it. She looked grave as she mentioned that it looks like a bacterial infection rather than viral. As you also cried before you pass motion it indicated colic. You were prescribed antibiotics as your gut was infected as indicated by the blood. She said to expect you to have poor appetite due to the Flagyl antibiotics. You were not to take diary products and also sweet foods.
Your fever stopped yesterday and you no longer seemed to lethargic.  Today, you developed a rash and when Dr. Mary returned my call said it was a good sign. It meant you had Roseola and this rash is the end of it except to continue with the antibiotics still due to your gut infection.
I'm glad it's something minor after all. Get better soon, darling.  *kiss*kiss*

Sick Evelyn

You've been down with the fever since Monday afternoon.  Yesterday Ah Ma called to say your temperature hit 39°.
As she wasn't too sure on administering the suppository,  I had to leave the office earlier. Went home to give you a long bath which effectively brought down your temperature but it went up again, so I had to give you the suppository.  Poor thing. 10 minutes later was the paracetamol.
We had a doctor's appointment to se Dr. Mary to make sure that you had nothing more than a ever. Daddy dropped us off thinking he had time to pick up some things from Cold Storage. Ended up after a big struggle to get your weight we almost saw Dr. Mary immediately probably because of your high temperature. So after picking the medicine daddy arrived to pick us.
Ko-ko was very worried about you.  He kept asking about you. This morning he kept wetting his hands to cool you off.
Again, this afternoon your temperature shot up and daddy and I rushed home to check on you.  Ah Ma had given you a bath while waiting for us. Then she tried to give you the suppository.  Your temperature for now is ok. Hopefully you'll be ok already.

Alan Ku-ku is Back

As usual he's back for the shortest trip ever. A stopover before he begins his meetings in Shanghai.
Love it that you kids just take to him so well,  especially Mei-mei who was too young when you met him last year.

Ouch!! Naughty Evelyn

As usual you love to drink water from Ko-ko's water bottle, even though you have your own bottle. And of course, Ko-ko would rather you don't drink from his bottle. So last weekend, Ko-ko yelled at you when he noticed you drinking from his bottle and snatched the bottle from you (even though we've told him many time not to grab as he might pull off your teeth when pulling from your mouth! This is because the moment he yells at you, you'd quickly try to drink as much water as possible from the bottle hence the bottle is in your mouth)

So what did you do inretaliation? Bite him back. As you are obvously shorter than him, you bit him right on his tummy, just above his belly button. Of course, it was super painful and so Ko-ko yelled and started crying. Poor Ko-ko. You got told off for biting Ko-ko but obviously it did not stop you from biting after that incident. Naughty Evelyn!

Our 10th Anniversary Celebration Dinner

It was a wonderful simple dinner with the family at our favourite restaurant, Feringghi Grill. We had to celebrate one the weekend after the actual day as we could not get a reservation the weekend before. There was also Ah Kong, Ah Ma, Nanna, Grampy, Teo-teo and Ee-ee having dinner with us. Simply love this restaurant. Beacuse there was children under 8, we were given a room. And we had our own waiter. The day before and on the actual day, the restaurant called to inquire if we wanted to pre-order some specific food so as to reduce the waiting time. On top of that, they even helped me with a special request for Mei-mei to have some chips served for her.
Here's the both of you all dressed up for the dinner:

And this was some of the food we were served:

On top of that, dinner ended with the usual petit four and also a little chocolate cake for us:
