2019 Father's Day

It was a busy day for the kids. But luckily daddy was out having his durian feast, so we could slowly prepare the cards. Ko-ko had started the day before (after much reminders) and as usual Mei-mei was very fast as she just went with the flow.
Both adding finishing touches to their cards

Evan's card: He even added a cup of coffee

Evelyn's card: Had lucky 4 leaved clovers and 2 piggies which were "door knobs"

The inside of her card.

Happy Father's Day, daddy. Hope you had a great day complete with durians and beautiful cards

Oh.. Bou Geh again

The plan was to have a haircut, then have a (long overdue) photograph taken to be submitted to the school and then remove your tooth.
Well, noooOooo.... your tooth couldn't wait any longer so it jumped queue in the sequence falling off before we even headed out for the haircut. Oh well.. not everything goes as planned.
So you smiled without showing your teeth for the school photograph.
At home, I tried to get you to show me your toothless smile, but initially only got this:
I finally for a picture of your smile with the missing tooth.
I think the other front tooth will be falling off soon.

Tooth fairy duty tonight. Someone had told you there was no such thing as a tooth fairy. You kept asking me if I was the tooth fairy. I didn't give you an answer, but you were happy enough to receive the RM2 from the "tooth fairy" whoever that may be.

Science and Maths Fair

Today was the Science and Maths fair in school. As Ko-ko had to be in school early, he left the house with daddy to have Char Kuey Tiau for breakfast before daddy dropped him at school and headed for golf.
As for Evelyn, you only needed to be in school at 9.30 am, which was when the fair was officially open. So we both headed to school together. Ah Ma dropped us.
Left you in the classroom and later we both went to all the booths to collect the necessary stickers.
Decoration in front of the primary classroom
We had a lot of fun exploring the many booths:
Playing with the giant bubbles
Watching the elephant toothpaste demo
Testing your mathematical skills
Ta-da.. you completed all the tasks and now to guess what the word was
Yay! You guessed it.. and you got a diary as a present
As there was still time before dismissal, we headed to the MPH where they were having a demo by the Tech Dome. You soon realised that they would ask for volunteers. There was a moment when I could not locate you, only to discover that you had parked yourself right in front of the stage so that the man doing the demo would pick you.
After a while, you gave up and was about to try the Van DeGraaff generator when you heard him calling for volunteers and promptly ran towards the stage.
So here you are showing off your dry ice bubble:

Happiness
And since you were done, time to try out the generator again. As your hair was quite long, we can see it standing/stuck to the book being held:
Again before we left, you headed to the bubble area for more play before I finally managed to pull you away to Ah Kong who was waiting for us in the car.

Macaroni and Cheese

You love your food, especially when they are cheesy. This morning you decided that you wanted to have Mac and Cheese and also that you wanted to cook it yourself. So.. ta-da.. your baked and non-baked version. Great job cooking, Evan.

Oh, Sunflower

You had asked several times to plant a sunflower plant. So on one of the occasion that I went to Ace Hardware, I picked up a pack of sunflower seeds. You were all excited to plant it. While the instructions were quite tedious, we opted to just put the seed (even that was a dilemma.. do we plant it with the shell or not?? Ended up planting the whole thing) directly into the soil.
And voila.. after a few weeks.. your sunflower. You proudly took the pictures and had them sent to many people:

The plant has now died.. not sure if it grows just to flower once or because of the rainy weather. I asked if you wanted to plant another seed. You said yes, but not now as "it is a sunflower and it needs lots of sun. So we will wait for the rainy weather to pass."

Siblings

Some days your behavior makes my heart melt. Holding hands without my asking you to:
You can sit next to her closely and help her with her games:
And other days you both cannot stand the sight of each other.. makes me want to spew blood...

2019 Mother's Day

I'm such a lucky mummy. I received so many Mother's Day card from the both of you.
These are the cards from Evelyn: some made in school, some at home with Lau Shi. You were so excited to give them to me, you could not wait till Sunday to give them to me.

This is the card hand drawn (based on a Google search) by Evan after much reminders from daddy. It looks so professionally done.

Love you all for the cards.

Saturday Japanese Night Dinner

Ah Ma planned to cook Japanese for dinner on Sunday, but daddy convinced her to cook on Saturday so that we could have a leisurely dinner at home. So this is what she cooked:
Beef, stir fried vegetables, steam egg and rice. Missing from the picture is our salmon sashimi.

You insisted that you wanted rice ball (current favorite for the both of you). And I recalled I had a rice ball maker... so although it wasn't sushi rice, we made this:
Rice ball filled with salmon (fried) and wrapped in seaweed.

Happy Birthday Nanna

Happy Birthday Nanna...
We were not in BM on her birthday, instead we went earlier on Friday to celebrate Ah Chor's birthday. While waiting for everyone to arrive, we took some pictures. Here's a funny pose from the both of you:
 Gramy and Nanna also smiles:

Passport

Today was our second attempt to make our passports (the tree of us: Ko-ko, Mei-mei and mummy). We had tried last week as the both of you were on holidays. We arrived before the opening time of 7.30 am. It had started to drizzle, but we did get to wait under the shade. When it was finally our turn to pick a number, we were told that the system was down in the whole nation and that it might be up within an hour.
So we walked off to Little India for breakfast. It was very humid due to the short drizzle. We walked back after breakfast to find that the system was still down. In the end after waiting for almost 2 hours, we headed to the bank after being reassured by the officer that we would not need to take a new number in case we had missed our turn. We came back to find everyone sitting around.. meaning that the system was still down. We gave up and headed home.
It was a good thing that today was a day off for the two of you, since it was Good Friday. We reached early again today before 7.30am, but there was a longer queue today than last week. Luckily our number was 23. Not much longer than last week. We got to have our application processed before 9am. We were told to come back after an hour to pick up our passports. So we headed to the nearby foodcourt for breakfast/brunch. And then went back to pick up our passports. And voila.. we were done by 10 am. Phew.. now was have our passports valid for the next 5 years. Yay!!

Looks New, But Still the Same Monkey

As your ballet exams are now over, we finally bought you to have a haircut. You had requested for your hair to be cut just below your ears. But in the end, Uncle Austin did not cut it so short.
Daddy was initially very shocked to hear that you really wanted to have your hair cut so short. But after the cut, he agreed that you looked nice in the short hairstyle.
You were so excited as you would be going to school the next day (after a weeks' holiday) and that people may think that you were a new student. Well this is what daddy had to say: Looks like a new girl, but still the same monkey *grin*

Birthday Present from Grampy

We had planned to make a trip back to BM earlier to celebrate your birthday with Nanna, Grampy, Ee-ee and Teo-teo, but we couldn't make it and the following weekend was spent in Ipoh. So we finally made it and Grampy had a nice gift for you.. a new set of rod and reel.
Dinner was spend eating Japanese at a nearby restaurant which was surprisingly not bad.
Looks like it's time to arrange a fishing trip. Daddy is also planning to get a fishing rod so that he can enjoy fishing with you and Grampy.

Happy Birthday, Evan

Happy 13th birthday to our precious Evan. We did not plan to have a celebration (as agreed), but in the end due to certain circumstances, we made a last minute decision to buy a cake and also a birthday present for you.
We hope that you will grow up to be a happy and healthy boy and that you will always lead a blessed life.

A Visit to the Dentist

Today the three of you had an appointment with the dentist. I had seen him earlier and didn't want to have mine checked. So this round, daddy went first, followed by Ko-ko. Ko-ko's teeth got the green light from the dentist. They both got sunglasses, I guess to keep out the glare. I wondered how you would be able to wear it since your face was so small.
To my surprise, when it was your turn they gave you a kiddy sunglasses to wear. So after a check, the dentist explained that on of your top from tooth had a hole, but since it would be falling off soon, there was no need to fill it up. And you had new molars erupting soon. This was followed by a quick clean up and you were done.

Ballet Exams

This would be your first ballet exam, the PPID exam. We had to wake up early enough for you to eat your breakfast and for me to tie up your hair. The exam time was 9.55a.m. but we needed to arrive an hour before exam time. All of your friends had their hair done by the school. Aiya... I didn't think about it. Note to self: next time have them do it for you!! They did help to touch up and neaten your hair (read: add a lot of gel to hold down your baby hair).
And soon it was time to line up at the door, to await being called into the "exam room". All the excited parents took the opportunity to photograph our kids..

In no time, the exam was over and we headed home. We had lunch at Queensbay, continued with ice-cream then headed hom.
That evening, we went off for a movie and the busy day was over.
