Overdue Inoculation

This time, it's Ko-ko's turn to have his inoculation. Ah Kong and I picked you up from school as daddy had a last minute meeting which he needed to attend in the office.
Some of the inoculations you needed were overdue. For the flu jab, you had missed the booster so you'd have to take two again. As Dr. Mary stressed a lot on the importance of having the flu jab to avoid having lower immune system after a flue which could lead to getting the Covid virus, this was one of the 2 injections you had. The other was Hepatitis A and B (combined).
And of course you had to be cheeky with her.
Dr Mary: Wow! Such a big boy. I bet you have a moustache now.
Evan: Yes, that's why I need to wear a mask.

Before the injection:
Evan: Would it be painful? Such a big needle? Do I get an injection on my thigh?
And this resulted in the need for the nurse to hold you... just in case...

It was obviously the tiniest needle and my big muscle man did not feel anything. We had a good laugh as you got to get two cute plasters as we had discussed the night before during dinner.
One..
Two...
I wanted to take pictures of the plasters. I'm wondering if you are showing me your plasters or your muscles?

Evelyn's Corny Jokes Part 3

We were having some food which was a little spicy when Evelyn came up with this:

Michael Jackon's songs has "he he ha ha". He must have eaten chilies before singing the song.

Good point. And good joke! Hahaha!!

Children's Day 2020

Your class teacher, Miss Joanne had sent a Class Dojo message in advance to notify the parent about the school's Children's Day celebration.

You requested to provide party packs to your friends. So we scoured Lazada in search for items to put into the party pack for the 17 girls and 5 boys in your class (along with extras for friends who are not in your class). On top of those, daddy and I also had to visit a shop selling snacks to buy the Mr. Potato for you. But as it was not available, I bought Mamee (your second choice).

Here you are hard at work packing and sticking the packs for your friends:

You even added a handwritten/decorated card to each pack:
And all the items were packed nicely by Wednesday night:

Here are the party packs; dino for boys and unicorn for girls:
You were also supposed to go to school in either a Disney or storybook character. While you already have an Elsa dress, we decided to go with something else as the dress was VERY long and you'd either dirty it, trip on it or tear it (or all 3!!). So we picked Rapunzel. I bought some tulle (after checking out Pinterest for some ideas) and some flowers from Mr. DIY to make the wig. Ta-da... :
You certainly got ready for school quickly today. While the initial plan was for you to put on the wig only at 11 am when the party started, we ended up putting in on at home and you managed to leave it on until after school. Such a cute Rapunzel!

We headed to school and I helped you carry the large Ikea bag full of party packs to the place where you lined up to have your temperature taken. Miss Joanne was supposed to meet you there, but maybe we were a little earlier. But she did help you bring the bag to class.

The teacher had also asked for baby pictures in advance for the game and here is a picture she had taken of you posing like yourself in the picture:
Of course, by the time you got home, the wig was removed and it had partially come apart too. Oh well, I'm glad to hear you had a good time.

Home Restaurant

As the Covid cases start to spike we have reverted to dining at home; either cooking or takeaway. These were our weekend "specialty dinners":
Grilled Halibut on Mashed Potatoes
Roast pork with apple sauce served with sauteed onions, baked potato and asparagus

Hhmm.. I wonder what we'll be having this weekend.

Random School Pictures

Your class teacher, Miss Joanne is very nice. We get to see what happens in class once in a while via Class Dojo. There are also videos especially during Chapel lessons. And we can usually spot our little girl singing and dancing to the songs.
Here is a picture of you posing with the items you need to convince your classmates to "buy" for English lessons:
And here you are, saying prayers for the day:

Such Amazing Kids

Daddy had to be hospitalized yesterday for a small procedure. It was initially planned to be done in August, which would have been a better time as you both would be on summer break and I had not reached my super peak busy period. Unfortunately, the hospital had a COVID exposure so everything had to be rescheduled.

So yesterday after dropping the both of you at school we headed to the hospital for admission. Daddy had to have a COVID test done before he was allowed into his hospital room. We waited for nearly 2 hours before we were brought to the room. There they got daddy ready and then they brought him to the operating theatre.

I had planned to go back after he got back from recovery as I had a lot of work to do. It took a long time before daddy was brought back and he had to lie down flat until 9.30pm. So in the end, I stayed on until at night.

My workstation

I'm so proud of the both of you as you managed to get things done on your own. Mei-mei had BM homework to be completed and handed in on Tuesday. My smart little girl had it done with Miss Koay. We finished off the balance 3 sentences over FaceTime.

Before I got back, Ko-ko had already planned what he wanted for the next day's breakfast and lunch in school. Additionally he also helped peel and pack Evelyn's orange for her school lunch.

Ko-ko also made sure that Mei-mei was ready and in bed by 9.30p.m. She was fast asleep by the time I got home.

When I got back and started to pack the masks, I noticed that Mei-mei had already packed the disposable mask and even washed up the reusable mask:

This morning, you both knew that I had an early meeting and so you both got up without a fuss and got ready on your own. In fact, you got ready earlier than days that daddy sent you to school.

Our two kids.. such good kids. Love you both loads.

Evelyn's Birthday At Home

We decided not to have a party this year as we are still in RMCO and we were not sure if there would be problems (i.e. police checking us) for having over 20 people in the house. So the initial plan was to have a simple barbecue (birthday girl's request) at home. Then Chim Poh checked to ask if we were having a party. So we extended the invitation to the 3 of them.

With that, our dinner menu expanded. And this is what we had for dinner:

Missing the steamed corn. It only made it's way to the table after the picture was taken.

Of course, we already had our pre-dinner drinks. And this was the wine we had with our dinner
The plan was to have Mulan theme but in the end, you could not resist and took out the Else dress which I had bought for you to wear. Look at the pretty princess, all so dainty (that was only at the start of the evening *lol*):

Found this selfie on my phone!
After dinner, it was cake time. Can you see the Mulan on the cake?
Then it was time to take pictures with the birthday girl:
Even Kor Poh who is usually camera shy had her picture taken with you:
And of course, the presents:
This is the present from Ko-ko
Barbie Made to Move as requested
And Enchantimals (extra present for you since you had no party with your cousins this year)
The both of you checking out the presents

Patriotic Day

Today is Patriotic Day celebrations in school to celebrate Merdeka and Malaysia Day. So children were allowed to go to school in either traditional costume or the national flag colours.

Of course, you have the costume needed so we picked this last night. Needed to get pictures before you headed to school:

Complaining of me taking too long to take pictures
Ah.. a nice shot of you holding out your skirt
Full length picture
Luckily (or maybe from experience), your class teacher said that you were allowed to wear legging. Can you imagine all those little girls wearing dresses and showing.. everything??? *grimace*

As for Ko-ko, it has been years since he's worn a "Chinese/Kung Fu" costume for Chinese New Year. So he went to school in school formals today.

Back to School

The one month of summer break just flew past us. And today you both go back to school. Teachers were sending messages to get you kids ready for school even before the first day of school.

Drop off and pick up was long today. Hopefully it get better soon.

Oh and Mei-mei came back to tell me that she was voted to be Assistant Class Monitor.

Hair Braiding

Evelyn's learnt how to braid hair. I had shown it to her a couple of times on the Candylocks' hair. And she finally managed to learn it. So here I am, the guinea pig for her braiding.

Anna also had her hair braided (don't mind her creepy lips):

New Toy: Paper Box

The box came with the 2 new shoes I had ordered for the both of you for school. Before it was thrown away, it kept the two of you entertained for 10 minutes.

Corny Joke Part 2

You found some jokes in one of your My Little Pony books:

Knock knock:

E: Knock, knock..

M:Who's there?

E: Cow.

M: Cow, who?

E: No, cow moo's

And proceeds to explain the joke:

E: Get it? Cow doesn't say hooo like an owl. It moo's

Numbers:

Q: Why was 6 afraid of 7?

A: Because 7, 8, 9

Looks at me and asks why (aiyo.. the one asking the joke doesn't get it)

M (Explains to her): Because 7 "ate" (sounds like 8) 9 (showing her a eating action with my hands)

Turns to Ah Kong to ask him the joke and explains to him in the exact way that I explained to her.

Blood Test

We went in to the hospital again last Tuesday as Mei-mei needed to get a blood test to determine if she still had Hepatitis B in her system. So daddy decided to go ahead and also have the allergy test, since they were going to draw blood from her. The lad was very quiet when we went and there were two gentleman working there.

They were very patient, trying to find a vein to draw blood from: first the left arm then the right. Then slowly tapping and tapping to get the vein to be more visible. And before he took the blood, he even gave you a spray, explaining that you would feel something cold. Like the two injections you had the week before, there was not a sound from you. Wow!

I received a call yesterday from Doctor Mary and this was the allergies which were determined:

Severe: Dog, dust / dust mites and grass

Mild: Peanut, chocolate, soy products and milk

We were not surprised with dog and dust but grass?? And then you seemed to have quite a reaction to peanut (well it has been a long time since you took any peanuts.. by mistake) and you eat chocolate often and drink milk daily. According to Doctor Mary the milk ones may just cause some tummy discomfort if you eat too much. Or maybe causes the flare in your eczema. Hhmmm... interesting...

Blogging

Mei-mei seems to be interested in ensuring I have pictures to post on the blog. She took this picture of me "Working" and said that I have something to post on the blog now.

As for Ko-ko, I think he does read the blog once in a while.

And of course daddy who reads all the time and will complain when I do not post anything on the blog. One thing for sure is that there is more post this year as we have been cooped up at home and I see all your silly antics while I'm working from home.

Reading Time?

I asked you to spend some time during this summer break to read some books. Today, I had to ask you to come up to my room to read.

You were reading the book and talking to me while I was working. Suddenly, I realised that you were very quite. And this is what I found...

Miss Kavetha, your Maths teacher conducted the first extra class for this summer break. You were initially not keen to join, but in the end had fun attending classes.

As usual, you cannot sit still while attending the lessons:

Summer Break

Mei-mei made this for Ko-ko and he was supposed to only open it on 1st August. So today Ko-ko opened it. What does he say? "Our holiday started earlier than 1st August". Sheesh.. what a party pooper. She just wanted to send you a happy message about the school holiday. She was so disappointed when she told me Ko-ko's response. Sigh...
