Sleeping Pictures

Evelyn recently saw some of the pictures I took during our trip to Hokkaido; I think on this blog. She commented that I took many pictures of the 3 of you sleeping. She asked why there was none of me sleeping. Haha.. my little girl, how would I be able to take my picture when I'm sleeping? She gave me an answer: Pretend to sleep and take your picture!

Yesterday evening, while we were relaxing in the living room and waiting for Ko-ko to come down to have dinner I turned around and found the two of you doing this:

And of course, Evelyn exclaimed and complained that I took more sleeping pictures.. Hahaha...

So Tired

Woke up while you were getting ready to go to morning session school today (for sports). But I managed to get her to continue her sleep, now that it's time to wake up, she cannot wake up!

Nap Time

You love to be cuddled when you take your nap. Here's daddy cuddling you as you take a nap today:

Afternoon Naps

For the whole of last week, you've not been taking your afternoon naps. Ah Ma says that you refuse to take a nap. I told myself that I'll have to get you to take your afternoon naps, otherwise you'll have difficulty waking up when school starts on Monday. Of course you keep telling me that you don't want to go to school still.
But never mind, after a little persuasion and some "good" reasons as to why you'll need to go to school, you stopped telling me that you did not want to go to school anymore (for now...). Without your naps, you seemed very tired when evening comes, and you were watching too much TV. And by the time it's dinner time, you were either too groggy or super grouchy (or both!). After dinner and a shower you were recharged (oh no!) and would dance and play and laugh till close to 11pm. Of course that meant you'd not wake up very early the next day.
Although I wanted to put you back on a schedule with an afternoon nap, by the time we got back yesterday it was already 5.30pm but you didn't need much persuasion, you fell asleep in the way home. As for today, we got back from our kai-kai by 2.30pm so we both went up (although you insisted that you were not tired) and by 3pm, you'd dozed off... still sleeping as I type this. Yay!! Success!
Hopefully you'll be able to sleep earlier tonight and wake up on time for school tomorrow. *keeping my fingers crossed*

Going to Sleep

Getting you to sleep seems to be a challenge for me all the time. Just like today's afternoon nap. You'd negotiate and ask for this and that before you finally would sleep. What needed to be done today before you finally went to sleep. First to watch your Barney VCD. So after the first episode, I said we'll turn it off.. Or so I thought.. Nooo.. You said that there was another episode. So finish that first. Then when it was over, we had to go to wee wee, put on your diaper, close the curtains, arrange the pillows and finally lie down on the bed.

But no.. you weren't planning to sleep so soon yet. You needed to cover blanket for mummy, give me "lumpy" to cuddle and a bolster too. And next you needed to pick a "nice" spot to sleep. I finally gave up so I closed my eyes pretending to sleep and ignore you. There was no sound and I didn't feel any movements. So I opened my eyes to peek. Were you sleeping? No such chance! What followed next? From "Please go to sleep" to a stern "GO TO SLEEP" to "If you don't go to sleep...." which all failed to get you to sleep.
After a while to moving around and looking for a comfy spot. You finally fell asleep. How long did this process take? I honestly cannot tell you, because (not surprisingly) I'd fallen asleep before you *grin*

Sigh.. why does it take you so long to fall asleep? I wonder how difficult it is for Ah Ma to get you to nap on weekdays.. Probably a lot easier than me!

Mummy, wake up

I love the weekends. We usually get to sleep in. Like 2 weekends ago. We slept until almost 9a.m. That's considered very good. Thanks goodness despite waking up early on days when we go to work, you also sleep in when weekend comes. And I'd usually only wake up after you'd woken up.

Actually to be more precise, you'll wake me up. I try to continue sleeping even though I can feel you moving around the bed. You'll try to entertain yourself for a while until you get bored, then you will come over to my side of the bed to wake me up. How? Simple: by using your little fingers to pry open my eyelids. What is the first thing I see?

Yup, you peering at me like that, and telling me "Mummy, wake up!"

Naptime

Seems like your nap time is now regulated. Ah Ma says that right after Clifford the Big Red Dog, you will go to the room and fall asleep quickly. Hhmmm... Looks like that seems to be the case. At 2 sharp for the past 2 days you'd fall asleep.. in the car!

On Saturday, daddy and mummy had to take turns carrying you so that we could have lunch! And right after we finished our lunch, you decided that you'd had enough sleep already! Arghhh... Yesterday was the same case. Barely 10 minutes after we got into the car, you'd fallen asleep. After we went to 2 stalls (1 in Terengganu Road and another in Tanjung Bungah) to buy some tea time snack, you decided to wake up! Slept for 1 hour in the car!

So would that be the same today? We thought that since we were not going anywhere, you'd follow the trend. Sigh.. I was SO mistaken. Went into the room at 2 sharp and thought that you'd sleep 5 minutes later (like Ah Ma said you would). Did it work? NooOOooo.. (obviously). I took me a good 25 minutes before you finally decided to fall asleep! Sigh..

And now? Deep in slumber land...

Correction: Already up even before i manage to upload the pictures! Haiya...
Nope.. woke up to lie on my lap.. sleeping again

Flying Leap

As usual you've been our bedmate. And this morning you were sleeping on my bolster when I woke up to go to the bathroom. I was too lazy to wear my glasses but as I was walking into the bedroom, I noticed that you were about to take a flying leap off the bed!
Wah.. that sure gave me a heart attack. I had to run to the side of the bed and catch you. Did you realise anything? I guess not. You continued with your sleep while I had to lie still on the bed in order not to wake you up.. with my heart beating so fast! And because of your attempt to fly, I could not sleep immediately. I wonder if daddy realised anything at all...

Please Let Me Sleep

I know I've written so many posts begging you to let mummy sleep. Sigh.. yesterday was one of the longest days in my life (so far anyway). You decided to wake up for a feed at 5.30am and refused to go back to sleep after that. Instead, you grinned at mummy when I sneaked a peak at you (I was pretending to be asleep before that!)
Then I needed to go to the toilet.. Darn.. Obviously you decided to follow me and help me pull the tissue paper. Then after that you told me that you wanted to brush your teeth! NOoo! So told you it's still early.. mummy still wants to "oi oi". Ok.. so we went back to the bed and lie down for a while. Obviously that wasn't the end. You were already wide awake by then. Next you told mummy that you needed to "mmk mmk". Being the (bad?) mummy that I am, I told you to poo poo later on *grin*, but you could not wait. And off we went again to the bathroom for you to do your big business. Not the end of my early morning torture session. Next you decided that you wanted to "pom pom" (take a bath). Try as I may, you wanted to pom pom. So... washed your little bottom and you were satisfied.
Back in the room you kept telling me (at the top of your voice) that daddy "oi oi". Then you decided that you wanted milk. So we had to go down to heat up your milk, go up to the room, finish your milk.. but you were still no where close to being sleepy. What else to do? Get up and get ready to go to work lo.. Both of us had our shower and by then, daddy was already semi-awake. Poor thing. I was trying go keep you quiet.. but you kept talking at the top of your voice. Poor daddy only slept at 1.30am.
Went down to have breakfast. But you decided that you wanted to "exercise". So sat on the machine on the upstairs landing and refused to go down with me. When I told you I'm leaving you upstairs, I think you to up too hurriedly and fell backwards on your back.
And what did you decide to do after we finally calmed you down? Spill your milk all over the table when I was not looking. Arghh... and it's only 8.00am! Ok daddy came down after that. Time to go to work, and you (grudgingly?) said bye to mummy as I'd just scolded you for spilling the milk.
After work, Ah Ma told me that you slept for 2.5hours. You went out with her and Ah Kong to the bank and fell asleep on the way back home. So after having such a long sleep, you only fell asleep last night at 10.40. I think by then I'd already dozed off once and daddy was also dozing off!
I woke up at 4.00am this morning, but dare not move in case you woke up. When I woke up again at 7.30 to get ready.. you decided to wake up too and stick to mummy like super glue! Daddy says I'm too "chor lor" when I get out of the bed. Hhmm.. maybe we should get those mattresses with pocket springs. And since we're at it.. a larger bed too! *hint hint*

My New Bolster

We were both so deep asleep that I didn't realise.. until daddy woke me up. I was holding you like you were my bolster last night! Haha... And throughout the night, I had to wake up to move you to the middle of the bed. Yup, you have become our bed mate too. Sharing our bed with us.
Best of all, you slept through the night. I guess Dr Mary's advise to give you supper is working, although daddy is worried about your growing tummy! Never mind, we'll try to cut it down when you get used to sleeping through the night.

I need... sleep

You kept mummy up for so long last night. You woke up at 2+ and only slept more than an hour after that. Daddy got up to carry you, but you looked at him and pointed to our bed, telling him you want to sleep on our bed!
And since you kept moving around our bed, mummy had to keep an eye on you. I was so worried that you might fall off the bed, even though you were wedged in between mummy and daddy. And you are really cheeky. You will not move for a while, tricking mummy into thinking you had fallen asleep and then just as I was thinking of moving you back to your cot, you start crawling around. You finally fell asleep lying right on top of mummy and I dare not move for quite a while to ensure that you were REALLY asleep.
Around 6am, you were up again to resume the torture session. Your eyes were wide open. And so you started to move around our bed again. Sigh...
Now I feel so sleepy. Lucky daddy. He slept early so he should not be as tired as mummy!

Sleep

No.. not another blog complaining about the lack of sleep mummy is having. In fact, with the long weekend that just passed, mummy had enough sleep to make up for the lack of it over the week. Imagine you were such a good boy, that you slept until 8.45 on Saturday morning, while on Sunday morning you slept till close to 8am. We had less sleep yesterday. You woke up at 7.15am. Sigh.. it felt to mummy like I'd just gone to sleep, after having breakfast with daddy. He was up very early yesterday morning as he had a golf game in Kulim. Yup, he was up at 5.30am! Sheesh.. who wakes up at such a time?!

Anyway, my intention was to show a series of pictures of you sleeping. I recall when you were just born, a lot of your pictures were of you sleeping. I remember Aunty Natalie complained that most of our pictures were of a sleeping Evan. Of course you slept a lot. You were so small then. That's what you did: eat and sleep (poo and wee too!). Now, we keep hoping that you will sleep longer so that we get to complete more chores while you are asleep.
Looking at the pictures, we can tell that you've grown so much. Sigh...

New sleeping position?
Mummy was sleeping next to you when you flipped and slept like this. Could not resist the urge to get up and snap this picture.

Now:
Here you are sleeping sweetly as mummy is busy typing away.

Goodnight sweetie, sweet dreams *muakkss*

Weeklong torture session

Thank God It's Friday! That's the message that appears on Aunty Joanne's status for the Yahoo! messenger. And today I totally agree with her. I feel so so very tired. Why? Because other than yesterday, you have been waking up early every morning for a round of play or poo session before going to sleep.

Worst still, you wont let mummy sleep. I think this morning was the worst. You woke up at 4.30am, had a feed, rolled in our bed, decided to turn vertically and stick your legs into daddy's sides while giving him an occassional kick or two. In the end, you managed to wake daddy up, and he had to move further for you to sleep. But in actual fact, you were NOT asleep. You rolled around more and whined and crawled on mummy, then lie down queitly to sucker us into thinking you had fallen asleep.. but next thing we know, you're moving around the bed again!

Luckily yesterday you did not wake up to play as mummy and daddy had to go to work early! Phew, and luckily mummy put you back in your cot before we left as Ah Ma said that you were sitting up when she went to our room!

Other than that you woke up twice to poo in the middle of the night. Mummy had to clean you and change you and of course you refuse to go back to sleep immediately. I feel so tired now. My collegue just commented that I look like a walking zombie!!

Blocked Nose

You were a good boy last night. You slept earlier. By 9.30pm, you were sleeping. In fact you were yawning all the time when we went to the airport!

But around 11pm, you woke up screaming. I guess nightmare. Daddy managed to calm you for a while, but you decided to continue screaming.

Then you woke up for a feed at 1.30am. You seemed to have some problems latching. I think it sounded like you had blocked nose. But after a while you went back to sleep. Surprisingly you only woke up for the next feed at 5.30am. In fact, you made some noises, but continues to sleep on for another 5 minutes. But this time when you woke up asking for a feed, your blocked seemed to be worst. You cried a bit and couldn't latch on properly. Finally (after a few bites) you managed to latch and continue to sleep until 7.45am!

What goes "thud" in the night

Nope.. not monsters in the room or under the bed, but little Evan in his sleep.

Don't know how you slept, but at around 1.10am this morning, we heard a "thud". It was relatively loud that we both woke up from the sound. Daddy went to take a look at you were already sitting up, looking at him. I guess it was time to feed. Poor daddy tried to rock you to get you back to sleep. Instead you let out a yell!

Seems like these days you move around a lot when you sleep. Unlike before when you just turn left and right in your cot. Worst still when you sleep on our bed. Poor daddy had to sleep on the bottom of the bed this morning, because the blanket was not big enough.

*Countdown: 1 day to your first birthday*

Early this morning

It's been a while but these past 2 days you have been waking up rather often again. I think it's the air-con. Even mummy's throat feels rather dry. Poor little guy.

But this morning at 4.30am, afetr your feed, you heard the dogs far far away barking. So you decided it was time to wake up!!

You played a while in your cot, until you got bored and called to mummy. I had to stand there to watch you, as you did not want to leave your cot. In the end, I was too sleepy, so I brought you to our bed where you played.

Daddy was asleep. Poor daddy, you slapped him twice while he was sleeping!

Thank goodness you finally fell asleep again at 5.30am! Please sleep through longer tonight.

Sleep... sleep at last!

Dear Evan,

You were a good boy last night. You only woke up 3 times after you went to be before 10pm. And each time you woke up, you had your feed and went straight back to sleep, without kicking a fuss.

In fact, daddy slept right throught the night too. He didn't wake up a single time when you woke up last night! Poor daddy, he must be very tired. We all were sleeping by 11pm!

Hopefully this will be your new sleep pattern for a while, until you learn to sleep through the night.

So sleepy today..

Evan.. oh Evan.. Why did you wake up so early this morning. My dear baby, at 3.30am, even the roosters aren't up! So why should you, a little baby, be up so early??

Now mummy and daddy feel so tired sitting here at our desk, trying to work.

Although you were up at such an unearthly hour, it was difficult to stay angry at you. Your one little grin, melted our hearts. That's why you got away with playing on our bed, hitting the wall behind our bed and rolling around. You stayed up till 5am when you finally dozed off and mummy also got another 2 hours of shut eye.

I hope you don't intend to pull this same trick again tonight. Daddy and mummy are VERY VERY tired. Unlike you, we didn't get to have a morning and afternoon nap!

P/S Daddy says you cannot sleep too early tonight.

More sleepless nights..

Dearest Evan,

Mummy feels so, so tired today. You were up every 2 hours. And the 2 hours starts counting from the time you woke up earlier, and not AFTER you went to sleep.

I think it's probably because of the dry weather. Daddy was just commenting to me this morning that the real Chinese New Year weather is here. So with it being dry, you had to wake up for a drink. And longer drink too. Poor Evan..

We'll try to put out more bowls of water. Hopefully that will help you sleep better. And longer too. You woke up at 5 this morning hoping to play! Luckily you went to sleep after a bit of coaxing, although you only foudn the comfy spot with your legs facing us!
